Apparently there are vitually no hiring standards for these people. The only purpose of airport "security" is to provide a federal paycheck to people who used to collect welfare before it was reformed.

This is how the Feds hire Fed workers. Do you feel safer, now that the Feds are doing the security work at airports? I told you when they took over, this is how it would be.

"...Kewanyama's status with his employer was not clear Tuesday; Max Aero did not return multiple calls seeking comment..." Just a guess here, but I'd say that the odds are fairly good that there's no need for Keenyyambowizzlefob to make any plans to attend the Max Aero Christmas party this year.

Gee, I feel real safe flying knowing people like this are doing the screening! /sarcasm
Maybe when they fix the airlines I'll think about flying again, until then I'll drive.

Stuff like this is what comes of having Sargeant Schultz in charge of airport security. Maybe we should sub-contract airport security to the Israelis, or at least follow that model. They don't have stupid nonsense like this and they also don't have high-jackings or bombings.

The only purpose of airport "security" is to provide a federal paycheck to people who used to collect welfare before it was reformed. Well, my daughter was just called by the TSA yesterday to take a physical and an eye exam and she has NEVER been on welfare. That job, at $14.00 per hour, will sure be better than her working nights at $7.00 per hour so she can take care of her infant daughter during the day and getting an average of 4 hours per day of sleep, while her hubby works for $7.00 per hour. She will at least be able to afford daycare and get some rest, not to mention getting benefits so they don't have to pay out of pocket for medical costs. Don't be so quick to paint with such a wide brush.

That airport security screening is stressful work.
They'll enroll him in a stress management course and he'll be back on the job in no time.
Was this guy a recent immigrant that had been raised in a culture different from ours?
If that's the case, this whole incident has to be viewed from the perspective of whether his behavior would be considered untoward in his home country. We have to allow for the customs of other peoples. Diversity is our strength, remember?
For instance, it's a tribal custom to fire automatic weapons in the air at weddings in Afghanistan. Would you be so insensitive and intolerant as to expect immigrants from Afghanistan to give up their custom over-night?
We don't know that he wasn't recently from a Muslim nation where it isn't rape unless the accused admits guilt or there's 4 witnesses to the attack. Had anyone told him that it's different here? Wouldn't we be as much to blame then?
We have to make allowances in the name of multi-culturalism.

Police then arrested Kewanyama, who was shirtless and had a tattoo of a woman on his chest. I'm not a big fan of tattoos but why did the reporter include that bit of useless information? Did the perp ink that tattoo during the incident?

what kind of name is kewanyama?

Security Screener: $23,600 to $35,400
Lead Security Screener: $31,100 to $46,700
Supervisor: $36,400 to $56,400
The way I interpret the most commonly asked questions is an applicant doesn't even need a high school diploma, if he has 1 year of security experience.
Sounds like welfare to me.

Okay. Leaving aside the fact that this guy never should have been hired as an airport screener in the first place, did anyone else think this was weird?
Early Sunday, police said, Kewanyama entered his apartment in southeast Houston and found three people inside. Police would not identify who they were or how they got to be there.[why on earth not?] Police said the people told Kewanyama to leave, but he came back a short while later "fully armed" with a number of weapons, including an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
Were these three people his relatives (who'd maybe thrown him out), the leaseholders on the apartment (who'd maybe thrown him out), or a bunch of belligerent squatters?
