[history]
A Palestinian activist from Tampa imprisoned for more than three years on secret evidence and then rearrested and held without criminal charges for nine months will be released and deported this week, his attorneys said Sunday night.
The case of Mazen al-Najjar, a Muslim cleric and part-time college teacher, has been closely watched by civil libertarians concerned that the nation's battle against terrorism could be eroding constitutional freedoms.

Al-Najjar and his wife, Fedaa, overstayed their U.S. visas years ago and had been ordered deported by the INS...Well, these things happen, in fact all the time in the U.S.!
A Palestinian activist from Tampa imprisoned for more than three years on secret evidence...
I'll admit I'm really surprised the INS busted him THREE years ago. You have to wonder what the evidence was, it must have been pretty wild. In the meantime, Mohammed Atta and his friends in Florida flight training schools got away just fine.

It's about frigging time! I've watched this animal and his cronies manipulate the system for years and make a mockery of the system.
It's about time? Actually, it's long overdue!!!!

Now if they would just go ahead and deport Sami al-Arian, and his family, we would at least be making a realistic start toward a rational policy. It is intolerable that these specimens were allowed to remain in our country in the first place, and especially irksome that al-Arian was on a government payroll, for pity sake. This guy's wife "wants to raise her children" in the U.S.? Well, maybe Daddy should have taken that into account. Hope they enjoy living in Fleabittenstahn. Aloha Akbar.

Thanks Dennis. I was going to post this from a local news source but they were late getting this up on the web while I was at an appointment. Things are about to get interesting here in West Florida. I can't imagine what kind of colorful response the large PalestinianWest Jordanian population and Iranian students will come up with.

Deport Sami? Why? Just because he funded terrorists? You need a better reason than that. Hell, if we started deporting people who funded terrorism, Jesse Jackson would have to go too.

I would much prefer that he remain here in prison in solitary confinement forever!

And have the St. Petersburg Times continue to wail and mew about one of their heros?
I wonder when Sami is going to be indicted. Last I heard, there was a grand jury meeting about him.
My preference, of course, is that Sami be put on the same plane as his brother-in-law. THAT'S when we can hold a bon voyage party.

I wish they'd deport these guys with "extreme prejudice", say by starting out in Miami, flying about 1/2-way to Africa, and ejecting their passenger.

I wish there were a way to milk this scumbag for more contacts...wire him up internally so everywhere he goes he's a walking microphone...Even if he did nothing he's going to get attention from the jihadji's in the mother*&**#land.
I bet his voice print is a treasured file with no such agency...heh heh....
