CA: Record sum for school bonds

California will shatter a school-bonds record when multibillion-dollar sums will be sought from voters on Nov. 5 for construction and renovation.

New highs are being set for the size of a statewide California school bond, $13 billion, and for the $10 billion total for bonds proposed by school and community college districts in the state.

Looks like the incoherent state of Kalfornia continues to push the envelope further on it's citizens. By the time they are done with them, free speech will be abolished, and then they will not be able to complain about a damn thing.

The previous high for a statewide school bond was $9.2 billion in 1998, and the record for local bonds was $6.8 billion, set in March, records show. "It just shows the tremendous need to build and upgrade schools," said Wayne Johnson, president of the California Teachers Association.

Right. It doesn't show the tremendous greed and corruption even though builders and architects are contributors to Doofus Davis, and it doesn't show that districts will get this money and slide it into other "funds" and "projects". It only shows the need to build.

The more money the incompetents in Sacramento throw at the schools the worse education in this state gets. They are hopelessly inept, but for some reason the voters keep making it a one party system!

The schools are overcrowded because they are full of the children of illegal aliens. When I purchased my home in San Diego 20 years ago, the land that was set aside for a local elementary school remained vacant. It still remains vacant today. Declining enrollments at the end of the baby boom. Now, the schools are bursting at the seams. The baby boom is from the illegal immigrants, but they aren't producing nearly as much tax revenue as they consume in taxpayer funded infrastructure. Retail support employees, janitors and farm laborers are in the bottom 50% of income earners who contribute little or nothing to the tax base. The top 1% of earners who contribute 33% of all tax revenue are not going to hang around to be fleeced.

State Sen. Pete Knight, R-Palmdale, signed ballot arguments against the statewide bond, "I think it should be a local issue as to whether people want to build schools," Knight said. "Let the people decide."

It is far more dramatic than that.

Although these wage earners do pay sales and other indirect taxes they are net negative contributors to the income tax base.

At the federal level these wage earners are entitled to refunds far in excess of their personal income tax liability when the EIC is factored and at the state level a minimum wage employee pays absolutely no income taxes.

Their net effect is that they reduce the revenue collected from income taxes.

In the case of California if these individuals were denied access to the liabilities and benefits of the income tax system (not allowed to file a return) the feds and the states would collect far more taxes.
