[history]
Legislation that supporters claimed would have allowed a million undocumented immigrants to obtain California driver's licenses was vetoed Monday by Gov. Gray Davis.
Hours before his midnight deadline to act on scores of remaining bills, Davis also killed measures to give Indian tribes more power to block development on sacred sites, allow sale of syringes without a prescription, and move the state's primary election date to June.

"he simply decided the Latino community isn't powerful enough," Cedillo said."

"He responds to powerful interests, and he simply decided the Latino community isn't powerful enough," Cedillo said you mean "Latino 'THUGS'" he isn't responding to. Wow, Davis shows one cell of testosterone, imagine that.
(sniff sniff)
I smell November election time.

"I made it clear to all parties that these bills must contain certain common-sense protections if we are to change the requirements for obtaining a license," Davis said. "Unfortunately, (they) do not provide the protections necessary." Even a stopped clock is right twice a day!
