I know. I was there in the early and mid eighties.
But to this point it has been gangs trying to kidnap people or gangs trying to hurt the government but TRYING to keep the uninvolved civilians out of the crossfire.
If they start with suicide bombings it's a whole different story.

Saudi influence may have had something to do with it, but I bet the fact that these gangs are all committed Marxists, in addition to being Muslims, had more to do with it. We all know, that in the eyes of the press and many (former) U.S. government officials, there is no such thing as a left-wing terrorist. They're freedom fighters, remember?
