Put simply, I believe that the imminent war is not in the best interests of America.

As McLaughlin would say ... "the correct answer is 'yes'"

For the sake of Iraq, the region and the world, and in order to defeat the terrorists, we need to rid Iraq of saddam hussein. Saddam is on leg of the props that hold up international terrorism. With him gone, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iran all three become much more managable affairs ... this is the KEY ELEMENT MISSING FROM THE THINKING OF THOSE WHO OPPOSE WAR VS IRAQ... Think like a chess game, and think 3 moves ahead, and MAYBE you might get it. Momentum towards Democracy in Iraq means same in syria, which laters to lebanano, which harbors hezbollah, which destabilizes Isreal, which faces hamas, which is funded by Saudis, which propogates wahhabism, which inderlies Al Quaeda, who were trained in Iraq on chemical weapons, etc.

The WMD factor merely changes this from a GOOD idea to an IMPERATIVE.

It is not, has not historically been, and should never be, the goal of the United States, to impose democracy to the world at large.

That's a philosophical objection, one with which our Founding Fathers would heartily concur.

The practical objection is this: the imposition of democracy in Middle Eastern nations would result in the election of Islamic radicals to power.

Unfortunately you have now totally invalidated the poll. I can't for the life of me understand why you would wish to artificially influence the result by ensuring the sample is weighted toward a certain demographic. A demographic who tend toward a similar outlook. To be fair and actually have a meaningful survey you should also encourage subscribers of Freedemocrats (or whatever the equivalent Liberal website is called) to 'Freed'the poll.

Sorry PPaul, I don't understand your glib reply.

I don't think what I wrote deserved such a curt response.

Perhaps if you have a more reasoned response now would be a time to air it?

This is not the time to raise doubts about our leaders. This is not the time to raise conspiracy theories. This is not the time to second guess our intelligence agencies. This is war. This is survival of our way of life. We must unite behind our Commander-in-chief and do all we possibly can to support him and our war efforts. We do not have a choice in this matter. The terrorists who attack us do so without warning and without mercy. They do not want peace. They do not want to co-exist. They do not want appeasement or negotiation. They want to destroy us. They want to destroy our way of life. They want to destroy our freedom. They want to destroy our nation. They have no conscience, no respect for life, no compassion and will give no quarter. The Death of the USA is what they seek.

It is always time to raise doubts about our leaders. If you have doubts, raise them. This is America, isn't it? You only say it's not time to raise doubts because you happen to agree with the current leadership. If you didn't, would you still not want people to raise doubts.

Excellent point. The strength of our democracy is that we are all able to criticise those in power without fear. I defend this right very strongly and resent anyone suggesting our leader's actions are above scrutiny. That is the path to dictatorship
