Anti-American Counter Freep - After Action Report - Houston, TX (25 Jan 2003)
25 January 2003 | PetroniDE

Posted on 01/25/2003 4:44:38 PM PST by PetroniDE

American hating Marxists, Socialists, Communists, Democrats, and those unsure of their political affiliation gathered at Mason Park in Houston, TX earlier today (Saturday, 25 January 2003) for a demonstration against the United States and the impending war against Iraq. Eight members and lurkers from the H.A.T. chapter of FR made sure their protest was responded to.

Another cold day in the Houston area as the temperature was about 50 degrees under cloudy skies. With temperatures much colder elsewhere, where is the global warming when you really need it. The Anti-American crowd numbered about 100. It was noticed from some of the more experienced Freepers that there were fewer professionally made signs and that many of the Anti-American regulars did not appear. It appears that the lousy weather lowered their turnout.

In addition to the impending war with Iraq, their rally also focused on illegal immigration (they are in favor, of course). In a blatant attempts to cater to the "Aztlan" crowd, portions of their speeches were in Spanish.

It is hard not to laugh at these people, and the FR crowd made certain to inject humor into the situation. Several examples:

1) When the crowd chanted "What do we want", the FR answer was "FOOD STAMPS".
2) Song parody that went "All we are saying, is we gave peace a chance; success it did lack, time to bomb Iraq".
3) They chanted something regarding being against paychecks. We started chanting that if you don't like money, give it to us. We didn't of this in time, but the word "G-D" is on our money, so they should repent and part with it. Somebody remember that for next time.
4) They chanted something specific to the Freepers, but since it was in Spanish (we think) we had no idea what it was. The police observing and maintaining crowd control also had no idea what was chanted.

No media presence was observed regarding the local television stations or the Houston Chronicle. The only press noticed was one freelance reporter from University of Houston-Clear Lake; she took statements from several members.

Freeping makes some of us hungry; after a quick thank you to the police in attendance, we went to Floyd's Cajun Kitchen. One member (Dix) was on a local television show this week and as I type this, several members are watching a replay of that broadcast.

Great job.

"Another cold day in the Houston area as the temperature was about 50 degrees under cloudy skies"

It hasn't been above freezing in Maine in over 3 weeks.

P.S. You forgot to call them Useful Idiots (but the meaning has to be explained to them at least in Maine)

I was talking to one young man that was very supportive, a resident of the local area.

He observed that none of the commies were from that area of town. He stated that 'his uncle died for that flag' that the commies had desecrated with the chicken-foot symbol.

Another local, passing through the park also commented about the 'not from around here' commies. My guess is most of the commies came over from Cuba, New York, San Fran, or Austin.

God bless that young man and his family. I lost my oldest brother in the Second World War. I was only six months old so I have no memory of him, but I will say this my Mother never got over it. Every year on his birthday she would cry . . .. For forty years after he made the supreme sacrifice not just for his country, but for the whole world. I wish those sorryassed frogs would think about things like this.

As for the comments the young man made to you. That part of town is mostly Hispanic. The average resident doesn’t know squat about what the commies were talking about.

GREAT Freep, Houston. FReeps are spreading like wildfire across the country. Get a FReep going in your town and post the results here. Way to go guys. Send some of that warm weather to those of us locked in the icebox in KY.

All is forgiven, as well as understood, because we all love capitalism. Be sure to get Ms Eastie a rig with at least twelve pound test, because the Drum tend to run pretty big in March. BTW your brisket was mentioned several times today at the meeting.

LOL, it was cold! The wind was blowing and it couldn't decide if it wanted to rain or not. ICK!

We were outnumbered but I think we had them outshouted.

In addition to some lovely (bleeechhh) songs, there were group hugs and tearful pleas from speakers for the US not to kill their family members in a war. Of course our response to that was that it was a VOLUNTARY military and we seriously doubted one of their family members would enlist. (ok that was catty, but really, you should have heard these people)

The officers moved, either of their own volition or by demand of the commies, between us and them. They had two squad cars and about 5 or 6 officers that stayed between the two sets of people. The nice officers wouldn't let either side get to close to the other, but the commies were the only ones moving toward us.

As usual they had signs that were incomprehensible. We stared at a couple of them trying to figure out exactly what was being said, but lack of grammar and a proper grasp of the language by the sign makers made that a bit difficult.

They did have something interesting though, they had American flags but they had replaced the stars with corporate logos. As one speaker not so eloquently put it, it was to show what really drove the United States.

I must admit the commies/greens/atlawhosits/socialists really were amusing. We never could get them to sing Kumbya (sp), but we did try. LOL

The food was excellent and watching the video of Dix from earlier in the week sent several of us into uncontrolable spasms of "What??! Where did he get that?!!" and loud rounds of "You've got to be kidding me!". That sentiment was vocally evident when one of the marxists said that he didn't think that there was proof that OBL had anything to do with September 11th.
