BERKELEY -- To some, she was an environmental Joan of Arc, patron saint of the Save the Redwoods movement and tree-sitting bane of the Northern California timber industry.

To Berkeley writer Kate Coleman, she was a fascinating cross between nuclear whistle-blower Karen Silkwood and the late anarchist Emma Goldman.

Environmental activist Judi Bari died of breast cancer six years ago in a Mendocino County cabin. She was 47.

Anyone who defends redwoods is a hero to me. The trees are a National treasure and I see no reason to use something that takes so long to grow.

The problem with the treesitters is if they spent half the money they do in going around the country as celebrities and simply buy the trees they're trying to save, everyone would be happy.

The problem is, she's no hero. She trespassed, ignored the rule of law and then used the rule of law that she ignored for her own personal (well, her offsprings') personal gain.

Fine if you want to defend trees, you buy them. Far as I'm concerned, it's no different if they're cut down, blow down or burn down, they all die eventually.

A bunch of details are absent but the award is a ridiculous amount. Ridiculous. Had she died the award of $4.4m would have been out of line. Taunting Pro-Life demonstrators by singing bawdy tunes about taking unborn life? ....My, my, my what a nice girl.

But she went further in to terrorism and fascism. They are the example of the protestors today.

I've had a standing offer to these so-called environmentalists for five years - for every $25 you send me, I'll plant a chestnut tree - the endangered species type grown by an entrepeneur in Minnesota - on my property. In turn, you gain passage to my property for picnics, bird watching, camping, skiing, snow-shoeing and any other activity that I deem fit. Great view of the mountains and lake, plus there's a stream on the property where I'm thinking of developing a trout pond.

Any takers? Not a one. This is simply an exercise by me to show people that "environmentalists" are not interested in the environment.

These people are interested only in planting Marxism and its attendant branches of communism and fascism.

My son's idea was to buy redwoods and Sequoias and plant them in our yards. We live in Texas so it would take a lot of watering and shade to make it work.

You guessed it. I can look out my window now and see the trees growing right now. The monster Sequoia is about six inches tall and the redwood is about eighteen inches tall.

The Ameri-Willow is the fastest tree known. The are supposed to grow 12 to 15 FEET a year. That's feet, not a typo. I think the thing has already added six inches in the last month. Not bad since it's still early.
