The United Nations bites the hand that feed it

The United States gives out $13.3 billion tax dollars in direct Foreign Aid annually. The United States is above and beyond the single most generous benefactor of the United Nations, donating $2.4 billion dollars of YOUR money, to primarily third-world dictators. This amount is 25% of the United Nations budget. In addition, the United States also gives another $1.4 billion tax dollars to United Nations' programs and agencies. The American taxpayers fund more for the United Nations than ALL of the other 177 member nations COMBINED. What most Americans do not realize is that the vast majority of the recipients of the of US Foreign Aid routinely vote against the wishes of the United States in the United Nations at an average rate of 74%. In other words, of the $13.3 billion tax dollars invested in direct Foreign Aid only about 26% or $3.5 billion went to support people who endorsed American initiatives or causes. A staggering $9.8 billion tax dollars went to causes and people who were and are in open and direct opposition to the United States' interests and objectives. Listed below are the actual voting records of various Arabic/Islamic States which are recorded in both the US State Department and United Nations' records: Kuwait votes against the United States 67% of the time. Qatar votes against the United States 67% of the time. Morocco votes against the United States 70% of the time. United Arab Emirates votes against the U. S. 70% of the time. Jordan votes against the United States 71% of the time. Tunisia votes against the United States 71% of the time. Saudi Arabia votes against the United States 73% of the time. Yemen votes against the United States 74% of the time. Algeria votes against the United States 74% of the time. Oman votes against the United States 74% of the time. Sudan votes against the United States 75% of the time. Pakistan votes against the United States 75% of the time. Libya votes against the United States 76% of the time. Egypt votes against the United States 79% of the time. Lebanon votes against the United States 80% of the time. India votes against the United States 81% of the time. Syria votes against the United States 84% of the time. Mauritania votes against the United States 87% of the time. US Foreign Aid to those that hate us: Egypt, for example, after voting 79% of the time against the United States , still receives $2 billion annually in US Foreign Aid. Jordan votes 71% against the United States and receives $192,814,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. Pakistan votes 75% against the United States receives $6,721,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. India votes 81% against the United States receives $143,699,000 annually in US Foreign Aid. Perhaps it is time to get out of the UN and give the tax savings back to the American workers who are having to skimp and sacrifice to pay the taxes. If you agree, send these facts to all your representatives and friends.

Sounds like we need to keep more of our $$ and let some of them figure it out how to make it on their own.

I wonder if the situation was reversed, and the US committed most of the atrocities on the planet, and gave the UN the least amount of money, would the hostile UN nations that are envious and loathe us, be willing to write a generous check to clean up the problems in America?

They would invade us with a UN peacekeeping force. Then to pay for it they would drill in Alaska much to the dismay of the environmental wackos.

Where would the UN peacekeepers get enough military power to counteract the world's only superpower? Don't you think the US has a GLOBAL checkmate?

Sounds like taxation without representation. We didn't elect a single dictator from the U.N.

I was being facetious. The UN can't blow its nose without the US standing there holding the tissue. That is why is it is so ironic that the UN is against the very power that makes it a power.

Perhaps Bush's mantra of "THE UN IS IRRELEVENT" will affect the sheeple, not only here in America, but throughout the world. We can hope!

In February, I wrote not only my representative, but also my two senators, the president, vice president, and all of the members of the Senate Foreign Relations committee letters about the inaction of the UN regarding the human rights abuses in Zimbabwe, urging them to stand up against Mugabe. NOT ONE OF THEM, WROTE ME BACK. However, Bush did impose sanctions against Mugabe and his cronies. Actions speak louder than words, I suppose. The others, do not seem to care about my concerns.

I doubt I will rush to write them, again, about the UN. I'll let you write this time, maybe you will get better results than I.

To simply look at the percentages miss a major point of foreign policy from the economic-political-military perspective, e.g., that since 1967, or even 1973, Russia and later France have been the dominent partners in the middle east with the Arabs. Only after a decisive defeat of the Egyptians and Syrians was American able to wean these two countries from their strong soviet orbit.... Since 1973, Iraq was the centerpiece of Frence Arab policy, and later in 1979 France literally scored a coup with Iran sending Komanni back (double dip if consider they defaced the US Embassy in process, an act that was probably demanded of the French handlers).

American's patience and persistence in foreign policy throughout the Middle East has made steady gains. The final three members of the terror are whittled down to just Syria and Iran, with the demise of Saddam. Militant Islam/Arabic-anti-Israeli governments/terrorist support governments will change or be replaced and our good will with the others will strengthen over time.

The mere fact that voting blocks against the US exist is a testiment of the power of terrorism within the Arab culture. I forsee a day when the Arabs vote around 50% with us and in a less tyrantical mode than at present. When governments in the Middle East no longer pursue the destruction of a democratic state in their midst, the voting will change. In the mean (very mean) time, France and Russia will go through the diplomatic death throws of road-blocking US peace initiatives for reasons of influence, trade and racist pride.

Even if we only cut out half of those countries that voted against us. Well..... the saving could be substanial. And to top it all off I believe that we (the US) would have their undivided attention on how to get back into our good graces. The other ones would be quick to toe the line knowing that we were next.

This whole situation is kinda of like a rebellious teenager telling his parents that he will run his own life until the bills become due.
