"Does the sun set in the East, or the West?"

Geocentrists observed it setting in the western sky. For many years, however, mankind has recognized that the Earth rotates eastward while the Sun, relative to the rest of the Solar System, pretty much stays put.

BTW, I assume the question is talking about the Sun, despite the lack of capitalization, since no other suns have been mentioned?

I may not have cap[italized correctly. But it is the basic question, do you watch the sun go down to the west or east? I don't think they are looking for the earths rotation, etc

40% is passing? What are these kids, brain dead, stupid or severely mentally retarded? 6 chances to pass a test where you can get more then half of the answers wrong? These kids don't need this test, they need special ed.

If Mfume and his merry band of mental-midgets in the NAACP and NEA teachers unions want to boycott the exams here in Florida,...I say, go for it.

But, I challenge the pols in Tallahassee to rethink current jurisprudence, and pass legislation which requires one to be able to read, write and subtract their current "known" age from the present year, thus proving their year of birth (which has been provided by the local DNC)...If they want to VOTE or Drive.

Am I asking too much? It just may take the "duh" out of Florida..."we don't need no more stink'en hanging chads"...then again, seems like the democRATs want to keep their status quo.

Hi CW I hope all is fine with you. You know I have bought a home here in Florida because I am stationed here as well. I have been paying close attention to the FCAT "controversy."

I am sick and tired of black folks crying the blues because they are held to a standard. This is a parental and community problem as a whole. You could probably ask those students that fail the FCAT how may rebounds does Shaq average per game and they could fire off the answer. They also know the lyrics to every hoodlum rap song. They are wear thier pants around their behinds thinking its cool. Then you ask these kids what they want to do with their lives? The blank look on thier faces says it all.

I am tired of it. My philosophy is that if I could make it out of the public schools of Chicago and get educated than someone else can too. I am also tired of our youth looking down thier noses at education. I saw this take place at Howard University (of all places). When I was working on my 2nd Bachelors I would challenge the feminist teachers on thier position and how they are trying to emasculate black men with their poisonous agendas.

We need the men in the community to start acting like men. We need to hold people accountable especially the teacher as well as the students.
Am I living in a fantasy world or are these legitimate expectations?

You aren't alone WN. You're just not as loud as those whose job requires dependent people.

Bump!

Why bother showing up for class?

Um, because grades still count for college admissions, and if you don't pass, you don't graduate either?

Sorry--the Regents exams have been in NY for years. Seems to me if these types of exams have been in the People's Republic forever, what's up with the recent problem allowing them elsewhere?

Time to start a new welfare program. Those that don't pass the test automatically qualify for enough $$ each month to live at the same level as they would be able to after graduating UofMiami with their NFL degree. This would delight the liberal complainers.

(sarcasm of course)
