[history]
Edward Epstein, Chronicle Washington Bureau Washington -- California first lady Sharon Davis blasted the potential recall of her husband, Gov. Gray Davis, on Wednesday as a "hostile takeover of state government" and expressed confidence he'll prevail.
Speaking with Washington-based reporters for California newspapers, Sharon Davis also warned that recall advocates could destabilize the state's political system if they're successful and tarred Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista (San Diego County) -- who has largely financed the recall effort-- as "extraordinarily conservative, more conservative than most people in this state."

Norm, I know you posted another similar article, but I thought what she was quoted here as saying that Republicans are fringe candidates deserves its own thread.

That's me and that's millions of Californians. I guess our elected representatives in our party in Sacramento are also "on the fringe." Thanks for clarifying the situation for us Mrs. Davis and you couldn't have helped make it easier for us to give your husband the boot. Since according to you its all our fault he's being recalled from office so we might as well be proud of making history. Yeeeahhhhhhhhh its partyyyyyyyy timeeeeeeeeeee!!! :-)

You know they're in big trouble when the wives get in on the action.
Maybe they could bring in Carolyn Condit to help out -- she's pretty good!

It's just good clean American fun to watch rats panic as they self-destruct.

Gray Davis is clearly getting more desperate every day about the probability of the recall's success, changing his theme every day and sounding more hysterical at each one. Now to send his wife out to try and save his job is truly foolish. Up until now his wife was literally rarely (I'd say never) seen or heard from.

(Recall Gray Davis and then start on the other Democrats)

"I equate it with finding out you have cancer," she said. "Very few people say they'll go home and die. You say, 'I'll fight it.' " It appears to me that the State of California has cancer, the "people," have decided to fight it, not sit back and watch the state die.

Sharon, who?
Oh, you mean that woman who says she is married to Davis. A true marriage of convenience in the eyes of many Californians.

Sharon, honey, we hope that you kept your LA home and it is in good shape.
You and your sorry sack phoney husband are about to be deported from Sacramento to LA.

RE:
"the governor wasn't booed on the Fourth of July when the couple went to see a fireworks show in Orange County... No, but as someone posted on FR,
(1) Davis made sure that he was introduced as a military veteran, and
(2) Instead of 'booing,' the audience shouted 'Recall!'
Shameless!!!
