In the name of "tolerance," these groups became off-limits for the FBI, and in the name of protecting the FBI's legal cases against the perpetrators of terrorism, intelligence agencies were hampered from sharing in the results of the FBI investigations.
In that sense, their goals were, and continue to be, accomplished without violence.
