Carb Counts

I've listed carb counts for most of the items I use frequently. The figures are from Corinne T. Netzer's "The Complete Book of Food Counts," or from specific brands, which are indicated. There is a separate table just for spices at the bottom of the page.

The fat and calories are listed as well, and I've just added a column for fiber, for those who subtract fiber from the carbs to find the usable carbs.

Items are listed alphabetically, by individual item. For example, cheddar cheese is listed under "c", but provolone cheese is listed under "p." Some items are listed several times with different quantities (I got tired of doing the math when I had the count for 1T and needed the count for 1 cup!)

Please add me to your list. I have had pretty good results since reducing carbs in July. 23 pounds so far.

I'm a 100% Atkins believer (50 lbs lighter). I don't like refering to it as a "diet", however. Atkins is a way of life. One needs to find their daily carb limit without weight gain, get regular exercise and realize that's the ticket to living a thinner and healthier lifestyle.

I will allow myself "cheats", usually on weekends. The key for me is weighing everyday and allowing myself a 3 lb range. The minute I go 3 lbs over, I whip myself into shape and induct for a couple of days and step up my workout. It's really very simple and easy to control.

I still plan on getting serious about losing 12 more lbs before Thanksgiving cause I plan to enjoy myself and want to get the last few lbs off. Trouble is, I enjoy having my daily Michelobe Ultra or glass of wine.

I'm sure it's been posted somewhere, but just how many carbs is a person to have in a day?? Thanks!

carlo, are those mushrooms on your Carb/Cal list plain ole white mushrooms? When it says a cup= is that 1 cup with the mushrooms cut in small pieces or big pieces?

I have been doing Atkins for 64 days now and have lost 16lbs.

Thanks for your thread.

I'd recommend you add Macadamia nuts to your list.

They are low in carbs relative to other nuts and taste great.
