These have included Charles Spurgeon, the greatest Baptist preacher of the last century, whose ministry at London's Metropolitan Tabernacle was among the most evangelistic in the history of Christianity. Spurgeon openly and consistently advocated all the distinctive doctrines of Calvinism and publicly identified himself as a Calvinist.

And Billy Sunday, the greatest PRESBYTERIAN evangelist of the last century was among the most fervent preachers to call for the individual to make a personal decision to accept Christ as Savior. The idea that receiving and believing are works is a doctrine of man. I challenge anyone to identify a verse of scripture that says believing or receiving is a work.

I challenge anyone to identify a verse of scripture that says believing or receiving is a work.

"Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God." -- 1 Thessalonians 1:3-4

Graces saves. Trinitarian faith in Jesus Christ is the instrument with which God chooses to dispense His grace.

And the reason Spurgeon was a succesful soul-winner was because he also made individual appeals, just like Billy Sunday.

Every succesful Calvinistic soul winner preaches like an 'Arminian' one.

A consistent Calvinist would have to preach this message, 'God has already decided who is going to be saved and who isn't, so sit patiently and wait to find out if you are the one who got chosen'
