The Cardinal Archbishop of Washington has repeatedly made clear to his priests that people who are publicly known to be in a situation of grave sin (i.e., pro-abortion politicians) are to be given Communion—in violation of Canon 915.

Why does the Cardinal refuse to defend the Eucharist from sacrilegious (and scandalous) reception? He has never given an answer, but one theory is that these pseudo-Catholics have worldly power and prestige.
