I was in Austria last month. Our local tour guide grumbled that his country won WWI but their government surrendered. What does that remind you of? Another local in Germany: our country has not been independent since 1945.

The fall of the Austrian monarchy was, in retrospect, one of the worst outcomes of WWI.
