RC view (?): My good works must outweigh my bad works.

Is this not their belief? Faith + good works? If indeed it is, it differs significantly from "whosoever believeth in Him shall have everlasting life" which is faith in Christ's atonement alone.

What the Council of Trent said was that good works performed by a justified man strengthen his justification and increase his heavenly reward. Good works performed by an unjustified man cannot justify him, but can predispose him toward faith which leads to justification.

So no, "good works must outweigh my bad works" isn't "their belief".

Interestingly, it was St. Anselm -- who was given the title Doctor of the Church _and_ is considered to be one of the theological forebearers of the reformation, who established that every sin is an infinite offense against the majesty of God. How then can finite good works "outweigh" the infinite offense of even a single sin? They can't apart from the gracious mercy of God.
