Our Father In Heaven,
How Blessed and Glorious Is Your Most Holy Name!

And We Are The Sheep Of Your Pasture.
We Worship You In Spirit and In Truth,

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,

A Song of Ascents.

1 O Lord, remember in David’s favor
all the hardships he endured;
2 how he swore to the Lord
and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,

or slumber to my eyelids,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,

When I lived in Florida, a lot of people asked me what I missed about New England. I did not miss shoveling snow or raking leaves, or waiting for grass to grow. Nor did I miss having a "White Christmas" as Bethlehem was more likely to have Date Palms and Fig Trees rather than Douglas Firs.

I didn't miss the wonderful Historic Atmosphere of Boston, as St. Augustine more than made up for that. There weren't a whole lot of Robins in Florida, or at least, I never saw one, but often I would see an Egret, a Great Blue Heron, a Stork, or a Pelican strolling across my lawn. And, unlike New England, we had The New York Red-Pated Migrating Snowbirds!

Some people asked me if I missed "The Seasons" but I replied;

"NOPE. We got Four Seasons in Florida:

The Hot Season,
The Rainy Season,
Tourist Season,
and
Alligator Mating Season!

I would have been lying though, if I said I didn't miss Springtime. After months being in storage, my motorcycle emerges from the garage, and even if it's too cold to ride, I manage. The first sighting of a Robin, or a Crocus pushing its way through the frost, gives me a thrill I can't describe. Discarded Easter Lilies, that I've been putting in the ground for the last seven years, start to find their way to the surface, and the faithful Forsythia, Rhododendrons, and Azaleas start to bloom. What had been dull, dark, and frozen, suddenly springs to life.

Today's Name for God comes from the Song of Songs, a Romantic (some say erotic) Poem attributed to King Solomon.

There are so many metaphors from Nature in this poem, and it springs with life and renewal. The sexuality expressed in this poem embarrasses some Bible Scholars, so they assign all kinds of Allegories and Metaphors to explain away the erotic language. They propose that it is symbolic of God and Israel, of Christ and His Bride, the Church, or of The Father and His Creation. It may be none, or it may be all of these metaphors, but, since God invented the means of reproduction for nearly all plants and creatures, it might just be a celebration of LOVE.

Whatever the Symbols in the poem may be expressing, two Names have come to us from the first line in the Second Chapter. The "Lover" is called "The Rose of Sharon" and "The Lily of the Valley". These two Names have become Symbols of the Messiah, Christ's Resurrection, and New Life.
