Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

The Names and Titles of God (The Amen)

Revelation 3:14

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

King James Version

I have a basic flip phone. This is not only because it's the least expensive phone (ie: CHEAP!), but it is also a deterrent. I absolutely loathe it when people are supposed to be socializing, but are instead buried in their phones, chatting with somebody else, checking their email, going on Facebook, or (worst of all) fact-checking me on Google! It is very difficult to do any of those things on a flip phone. It has all of those features, but require additional steps to access them. Foe example, texting requires scrolling through a phone button to find each letter, and sometimes I scroll past the letter I want. That makes texting very laborious and difficult for me. The good thing about it is that I can receive texts, which is useful for scheduling and emergencies.

But here is the issue: I was so well trained working in Customer Service for so many years, that every communication MUST be acknowledged and answered. I can't leave a text hanging out there. And so it's scroll scroll scroll, just to text back "OK".

Some phones have a means of saying that the message has been received, but it sometimes comes back weird, like this:

Loved "I am sick with the flu and have to cancel our appoint today".

How can a person "Love" that I am sick with the flu and have to cancel? But I figured out that was the way most phones tell me my message has been received.

Then there are folks who don't know how to end the conversation. Like me, they feel that they have to answer every text, even the ones that say "Goodbye". If BOTH parties suffer from this same affliction, it can go on forever, like Chip and Dale saying "After You."

The word "Amen" comes from The Hebrew, and appears at the end of nearly every Christian and Jewish Prayer. It means "So Be It" and has an air of finality. It is the Last Word in The New Testament, at the end of Revelation. (That was a JEOPARDY! question which all three contestants got right because it's so natural, even if a person hasn't read the Bible). One of the most charming scene in the classic movie "Lilies of the Field" features a whole song of "Amens" Amen.

In the Book of Revelation, the Glorified Jesus appears to John and gives him seven letters to seven churches. Each church gets some good news and some bad news. There are commendations and condemnations. The Church in Laodocia gets more bad news than good because, from the looks of things, it has fallen the most.

Jesus introduces Himself as "THE AMEN". That means He is the Last Word, the Final Authority, the Only Truth. Even the messed-up church in Laodocia can repent and turn things around, but not by coming up with schemes or programs or planning committees. By calling Himself, "The Amen", Jesus is putting the cap on all of our human efforts to be "NEW AND IMPROVED". The Laodocian Church can't save itself. It has to look to Jesus for Salvation. He is the Last Word on that.

Can I get an "Amen"?

AMEN!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. (Mark 4:22)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen
