My biggest argument against those who contend that "irresistable grace" must mean that God drags us kicking a screaming to Himself is this; "the Lord's appointments are wise and gracious". John Newton understood this.

God knows what makes us "tick", He draws us to Himself by His love and grace. "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound..."

What I find amazing is the number of saved men and women that THINK they could have refused the grace of God. Can you imagine anyone refusing the King of Kings?

Not only that, but they so often paint the picture of the poor non-elect man who is begging for forgiveness and doesn't receive it from the mean, arbitrary God.
