1,000,000 "Other Than Mexicans" Cross Border Every Year: Iraqis, Iranians, etc.
KTRS Radio St. Louis, MO ^

Posted on 10/31/2001 12:24:30 PM PST by Recovering_Democrat

A report just now (Wednesday, October 31 3:20 pm CST) on KTRS radio, referred to "OTM"s..."other than Mexicans" illegal immigrants who walk across the border. A conservative estimate was that 800,000 come across every year. I believe the reporter said many were South and Central Americans, but that also included in the number were Iraqis, Iranians, and others from the Middle East. The reporter made the point that airport security is great...but if thousands can stroll across the border down south, why are we ignoring that?

I'm all for cooperation with Mexico...they're good neighbors. But we need to tighten up the border to keep these OTMs, and other illegals, OUT.

Our borders have become a national disgrace, and now a complete national security nightmare.

I’m in agreement ….as a goal. But how are we going to do it in the short time span that would be meaningful. The Mexican-US boarder looks big on a map but when you get out there it’s huge.

I’ve heard estimates that it would take up to one half of our active military to control that border effectively.

Canadian border is a huge joke, as liberal Canada let's anybody in who claims to be a "refugee."

As far as Mexico is concerned, security at main checkpoints has improved, although more migrants simply take their chances through the desert. dead bodies turn up all of the time.

Not so. Sandia National Laboratories several years ago presented the INS with a comprehensive plan for southern border control, using sensors, aerial surveillance, remote cameras, and other high-tech equipment. It was never made public. The problem all along has been that we have not had the political will (translation: dedication of adequate resources) to enforce our borders. Go back several years and read about Operation Hold the Line. They closed down the border in the El Paso sector and kept it closed. Our borders can be secured; those who argue they can't usually have a vested interest in keeping them open that does not serve the rest of us. This is one of those "if we can put a man on the moon, why can't we...." situations. Now we have an urgent, national defense need to do so. I wonder how many more of us are going to have to die before they get it done. AdR

Razor wire and mines along the north and south borders are urgently required. Unfortunately it's probably going to take another big loss to get the people and politicians in this country to realize it.

When some of these OTM's can potentially be ODIOUS TERRORIST MUSLIMS transporting "dirty" bombs it is imperative that we address this situation NOW!

Are the Mexicans fighting for our freedom over in Afghanistan??? Maybe we should send them home if they aren't willint to for this country? Why do they have rights and freedom in USA if they aren't willing to fight for it? Aren't we having to fight for freedom?

By the way, there's probably some good US citizens that are willing to fight for this country that could use the job.

There there is the COSCO shipyard in San Diego where Chinese soldiers can be brought in by container ship. Also to Canada, Panana, Cuba and Mexico. There are lots and lots of links on this subject on F.R. for the curious.

Good point! Here in California there is absolutely no will to close the boarder. Ag and many, many service industries depend on illegals for cheap labor. The California government encourages inter-country, political campaigns (politicans for state wide government in both Mexico and California campaign in each others country openly for the "crossover" vote).

Two weeks ago I was at a Burger King restuarant on the California central coast when I noticed the restuarant manager trainning a new employee in Spanish. I noticed that during the training the manager changed the plastic templet on the cash register keys. When I got up and peeked I was surprised to see that the templet being used during the training was in Spanish.

Prior to September 11, 2001, this post would have attracted every loyal Pubbie and you would have been condemed as a racist, xenophobic swine.

It took the WTC disaster to wake these cheerleading SOB's up.

Well anyway, I agree with your post except the part about Mexico being a good neighbor.

Mexico is a third world country who has it's hands in our pockets...

The illegals entering America from Mexico use a 2,000 mile stretch of the border.

If we can't control that, I say we surrender to Osama immediately and get it over with.

If we don't stiffen our backbone and become the USofA again soon, we can forget national security forever. When did we become a bunch of wimps who think we aren't the biggest and the best? WE ARE the biggest & the best. I'm proud to be an American and I don't care if we offend ANYONE who urinates on the privilege of being in this country.

The Constitution requires the federal government to protect this country from invasion. The hordes of immigrants violating our borders are an invasion, nothing less. The military should be put on the borders immediately.

Who knows how many chinese, Cuban, Palestinian, Libyan and North Korean agents have also entered? They may be capable of attacking 1000 targets simultaneously. They will carry out their orders when the word is given. How wonderful, multicultural terrorists. Isn't diversity great?
