Indeed, that's what I have been wondering about. Call me an old fuddyduddy, but I just don't trust Putin buddying up to us. Sorry. I'd like to believe it, but....

My thoughts exactly. I reckon he's liking this warming relationship with Bush / USA, and sees this as a way to curry American favor in many quadrants, which he expects (rightly) will bring Russia many rewards. But I also suspect he is not insincere when he says it.
