I don't read Doonesbury. Does anybody know what Drudge is talking about? If the strip implies that the terrorist attacks and the resulting war have been a "good thing" for President Bush, then Trudeau is even more despicable than I thought.

Here is the strip.

It's KILLING Gary Toolow and the rest of the America Lasters that x42 is now seen by everyone as a total failure and Dubya as a winner. The more venal his strips become the more pain he must be suffering.
Wassa matter Gary--having erectile problems with Jane since Dubya's in? Need to take out your frustration with this horrific implication?

I wouldn't really let this upset me.
The truth is, what happened on 9/11 and the response by our nation are facts...and the REST OF THE STORY is that all the things in the Bush agenda prior to 9/11 were exactly right...so all this A**Hole is doing is recognizing that Bush had it right all the way!
Being right is what we conservatives do...factually and idealogically!
God Bless America and my fellow Freepers!

The Dallas Morning News "compromised" quite a few years ago by placing this so-called comic strip on the editorial pages.
I refuse to read it, but read this one someone so kindly posted and it is worse even than I remembered.
IN fact, it is so offensive that I feel I must protest to the DMN even though I know it won't do any good.
Yes, I would cancel
IF: there was any other paper in town, and
IF: I could bear to be without a paper. I really don't read it for the news at all anymore. I get that off the web and from Rush.

But, this is very true! Bush was a barely legitimate President prior to the Holocaust. He had been lucky but there were major battles to be fought and the '02 election was over the horizon. Thanks to the evil doers, we have a nation united as it has not been in 50 years, Bush is Churchillian, a bona fide war cheiftan in a war where, despite the opinions of leftist gurus, he has kicked some major butt, and his international capabilities are now legendary. Leveraged correctly, we may regain the Senate and get rid of some of the socialists in Congress. None of this would have happened without OBL and his excesses in the Holocaust. The evil doers have elevated Bush to levels that would have been impossible otherwise. Want a very nasty thought? Imagine what would have happened if Willie and the leftie crooks had been in office at the time of the Holocaust.

Remember this is the same guy who did a strip about that Presidential IQ Study(the one that said Bush had the lowest IQ of any president, half that of Clinton) which turned out to be a completely phony e-mail hoax.

The breakfast nook, Sunday AMTrudeau: "I hate Bush."
Pauley: "Yes, dear, I know."
T: No, I really hate him, you know? Did you read my strip this morning?"
P: "Oh, yes, I did. It was hysterical."
T: "Ha ha ha! Yeah, I really crack myself up. What part did you think was funny?"
P: "Oh, that part about George Bush. That was really great."
T: "What did you think was funny about it?"
P: Hesitating "Oh, you know, that funny part about him being dumb and everything."
T: "I didn't write anything about him being dumb. What are you talking about?"
P: "No, I meant the part about him being an alcoholic. That was a riot."
T: getting angry "You didn't read it, did you, Jane? You know I hate it when you fake it."
P: "Oh, crap. No, I didn't read it. All you do is obsess about Bush. Stone never does that."
T: imitating her voice " 'Stone never does that'-- What is your problem? Are you a Bush-lover all of a sudden?"
Pauley gets up, shoving the kitchen table back "I'm going out."
T: "Fine, go~! Witch!
The kids enter breakfast nook
T: "Hey, kids! Did you read my strip this morning?"
The kids glance sidelong at each other Kid: "Yeah, Dad, it was the best ever. He really is such an alkie."

I'll probably be the only one here who thought it was funny. Though not funny in the way that Trudeau intended. I think it's funny that Mr. 88% Approval Rating (President Bush) has reduced the liberals to lame stuff like this. It must really burn the die-hard liberals like Trudeau to see Bush consistently in the 85-90% approval rating range when their hero Bill Clinton never broke much above 60%.

On 9-11, Trudeau had a strip that made fun of veterans. I called the editor of my local paper and expressed outrage that Doonesbury was inappropriate considering what was happening. The editor agreed and the strip was suspended for a week. When it returned the events of 9-11 were treated with more respect.
Now Trudeau is returning to his BUSH BASHING mode. He contantly portrays GWB as an empty suit under a cowboy hat.
I plan to call tomorrow and express my displeasure with today's strip and I urge other Freepers to do so. Let's not let him get away with his partisan attempt to smear GWB's magnificent leadership in this war on terrorism to protect the lives of Americans.

Trudeau and Rivera are blood-brothers. Next thing you know, Trudeau will get a job at Fox News.

My letter to Trudea:
Hey, Mr. Trudeau,
Your exercise of free speech and artist expression has inspired me. The George Bush thanking evildoers strip has moved me to cancel my subscription to the Dallas Morning News (which carries your strip), informing them that your strip is the reason why.
That bit of free speech was so invigorating, that I've gotten kind of addicted to it. Now I need to get one or two other people a week to do the same thing.
Thanks,
Bill
And, my letter to the Dallas Morning News:
Mr. Trudeau just inspired me to cancel my subscription to the Dallas Morning News.
You already deem his rants to be "opinion" by running them on your editorials pages. Well, it's certainly your contitutional right give people like Trudeau a platform.
And, it is certainly my constitutional right to refuse to purchase your product any longer, because you give people like Trudeau a platorm. My subscription dollars won't contribute to that folly any longer.
And, it's also my constitutional right to persuade every person in my circle of acquaintences -- at work, at church, in my neighborhood, in the civic organizations I work with, to do the same.
Mr. Trudeau's platform just got smaller by one subscriber. It is my fervent desire to duplicate myself in this regard as many times as I can possibly figure out how to do.
