"Cortez would be the more appropriate official to hold responsible for the Oracle debacle..., but Davis had already fired several high-ranking Latino officials and could ill-afford another incident...." The most disgusting sentence in the entire article is right here. The idea that you protect someone because of their race is inherently a racist attitude, and one that is ubiquitous among "progressive" politicians.
The idea among minorities that every firing is racially motivated is equally abhorrent. Are the Hispanic "leaders" becoming copies of the black "leaders"?

I agree absolutely. Who are the racists today? The Democrats? Why? They are the Democratic party, which capitalized upon the resentment against the newly-freed slaves in both the industrial North (no *&*&^& is going to get my job) and in the South (no (**&&^ is going to get my land). As time wore on and overt racism became passe`, they simply glossed over it while the attitudes remained the same. Now blacks, Latinos, women, the disabled, are all people over whom the Dems can gush fake sympathy and fake concern while making sure that they never outgrow their dependence upon the government. For as long as they can be bought with guady trinkets and money, they can be controlled, and the Dems maintain their power...
