Simon hasn't slipped in the polls. The professional political polls (including the liberal CTA) all show him leading Davis by 4-5 points.

The Field poll which showed Davis ahead by 14 points is of all adults who choose to answer the telephone. It is not a politically accurate poll, and even that one, tilting to the left as it was, showed Davis's negatives at over 50%.

Simon is ahead. Simon is going to win.

I hung up on a Field Poll two weeks ago before we ever got to the polling questions. The pollster was terrible with her English and had very poor oral English skills. The questions she asked had nothing to do with taking a political poll. After one of the innane questions, I told her to stuff it and hung up.

A few minutes later, a supervisor called back. I said that I would never deal with someone who had not mastered English in a poll. Also, some of the pre lim ?'s had nothing to do with a legitimate poll. She then asked me if I would participate, and I said no and hung up.

During the Clintoon years and when Davis first ran, the Field pollsters would drop my wife, my son or I as soon as we said that were conservative republicans. They would say no thank you and hang up. They did not want to interview very many republicans.

2 months ago that same Field Poll had Simon up slightly over Davis. Was it not accurate then? Simon has made many missteps-- much like when Schundler made his first statewide bid for public office last year. Winning the governorship of California is very difficult-- especially for a Republican. Simon hasn't made issues of many things Davis has done. After his primary win, Simon had a chance to define himself (2 months ago people in California didn't know much about him), but Davis defined him and Simon hasn't done a good job of fighting back.

Well, if it's during the day - most of us who will be voting for future Gov. Bill Simon are AT WORK - not sitting zombied out in front of the TV, so we can CHOOSE to answer the fershlugginer phone!!!

Ahead by 4-5 and Simon hasn't even said anything yet. Love it!

Gray Davis, you are the weakest link, Good-bye!
