It is about California. Gray Davis is here screwing up California. Your criticism is not only foolish and ill-conceived, it is irrelevant.

I appreciate many of the comments in this thread. I've been feeling disappointed by the apparent absence of thinking conservatives from the political scene. What I'm seeing is a whole lot of mindless rightwing cheerleading, which bears no resemblance to authentic conservatism.

California sure has changed during my lifetime. I grew up in Pomona when it was a pretty safe city. Many of the friends I had in Little League were of Mexican heritage but spoke English and were proud to be Americans. We didn't know any different in those days. We were all just Americans.
