California: Davis aides testify Monday on Oracle. Questions linger on the governor's role.

Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison is a computer software billionaire, the sort of guy who receives a visit from the governor, not the other way around.

"Larry's Larry. When prime ministers come through they try to say hello to him," says Oracle executive Ken Glueck. "He's an entertaining, thoughtful visionary who also tends to be at the higher end of the wealth meter so people like to meet him. Not to mention that if I'm the governor I want to come by and see a company employing 40,000 people, more than a quarter of which were in my state."

California Gov. Gray Davis met Ellison just once -- "not any time recently," said Glueck. He said Davis paid a call on Oracle's chief at the company's campus in the Silicon Valley. Davis aides say the Democratic governor remembers the meeting. They said they don't think it occurred last year, when the state signed a controversial $95 million contract . . . .

The don't THINK it was last year? Are they trying to say that no one has kept a record of Davis's daily calendar, or that no where in the governor's filing cabinets is a manila folder with the name "Ellison" on it?

Anyone who believes that would surely buy this bridge I have for sale, if I hadn't already sold it last week.

Didn't that bug eyed press secretary from the Clinton Admin. go to work for Oracle?

Guess you would be talking about Joe Lockhart and yes he did.
No sure if he is still there though!

Lockjaw left after six months. Something about needing to "spend more time with his family."
