one of the most senior aides to Gov. Gray Davis will testify next week ...

I'm sure the author meant to use the word testalie. He was probably tripped up by his spell checker. The sentence should read "one of the most senior aides to Gov. Gray Davis will testalie next week"

This is turning into as clear cut a quid pro quo as you're likely to find. I just hope someone has the power and courage to put all the pieces together.

Clearly Oracle wanted the business on its books by May 31 to boost the company's bottom line for the past fiscal year. Clearly, Davis wanted to help them, but only for a price. They put the coins in the turnstile (a la Johnny Chung) and the turnstile opened in record time. No great mystery here.

John, thanks for all your posts today. I am enjoying reading them.

One big reason that the Enron debacle has subsided is because there was no evidence of a Q.P.Q. between Enron and Bush. Enron coughed up money, but there was no evidence that they got anything for it. If anything, they were ignored, when they asked for help.

With Davis and Oracle, however, the evidence and testimony is mounting that Oracle greatly benefitted from its benevolence. I don't think this story will die for a while. There are plenty more stones to be overturned before all will be said and done.

Meanwhile Davis is skewered and slowly roasting over a BBQ pit.
