Maybe the Kaliban is the actual cause of all that hot gas! I wonder if there is a directory of what politicians drive. DNC Chairman Mccauliffe drives a Cadillac Escalade. They want the fruits of capitalism for themselves, and the drudgeries of socialism for the rest of us!

They can walk, they can change the vehicles they drive or they can change lawmakers.

I vote for walking--maybe they would have less time and energy to run their mouths with their leftist rhetoric.

This time, the California Senate is insisting that by 2009, automakers greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars sold in the state. The bill demands that the California Air Resource Board adopt regulations forcing a "maximum reduction" in carbon dioxide and other gases for all passenger vehicles.

I think the rest of the USA should insist / demand that the good tax payers of the state of Kalifornia foot the bill for the auto companies to accomplish this. The other "sane" states should not be held responsible for KA's delusional behavior.

California state Sen. Debra Bowen said the action by the lawmakers was in response to the failure of the federal government to sign the Kyoto Protocol, an international air quality agreement that would have destroyed the American economy. "California should take the lead when the federal government refuses to do what most Californians support," she says.

The facts in support of my above argument. I rest my case.

Note to State Sen. (snicker) Debra Bowen - please have your drinking water checked. Something is making your brain bubble.

I applaud the California legislature.

But, that's just the way our Gov. Doofus IS.

I think we should *encourage* Commufornia to enact *ridiculously* restrictive motor vehicle laws. Then the automakers will have to build one type of vehicle to sell in Commufornia, and another to sell on Earth.

The Commufornians will then have to bear the expense of their own stupidity, and the rest of us can have cheap automobiles. But it will only work if Commufornia enacts *really* strict restrictions - a small, incremental difference will only cause the automakers to build the more restrictive model and pass the expense on to the humans as well as the Commufornians.

The California emissions standards appear to work. The polution has subsided steadily for the last 20 years.
Also, getting your car checked and passed is no big deal.
I'm not saying it should be enacted elsewhere, just that dealing with it first hand is not problematic.

Well, thru some very devious shenanigans, the California legislature passed the bill, and it is on the Governor's desk to sign. There was heavy lobbying from outside high level Democratic politician's including Ex Pres Clinton. See these:

California: Emissions bill senator's smoke and mirrors win (Cal Sen Burton gets credit )

California: Pavley gets national attention after emissions bill approved (Clinton approves)

Governor expects to sign air bill
He says the landmark 'greenhouse gas' curbs strike the right balance.

Thank you.

It's a few wackos that want to set the agenda for everyone else. Of course, if people out there don't wake up they will be successful in this.

I mean, after all California does have the right to pass these laws and it will have an adverse effect on the auto industry when they do.
