Gov. Gray Davis is a man of his word. Looking for the endorsement of the state's powerful and influential prison guards union in his 1998 run for governor, Davis apparently promised the correctional officers that, if elected, he'd do his best do eliminate five privately run prisons that the guards union wanted to kill.

Just another prime example of the way of Benito Davis:

Gov. Gray Davis is a man of his word. Looking for the endorsement of the state's powerful and influential prison guards union in his 1998 run for governor, Davis apparently promised the correctional officers that, if elected, he'd do his best do eliminate five privately run prisons that the guards union wanted to kill.

The guards in turn backed his campaign, giving Davis a crucial law enforcement endorsement that helped persuade voters he was tough on crime. The union spent $2.3 million helping him get elected. And the guards dropped another $250,000 into the governor's campaign till a few weeks ago.

Now Davis, making good, is pushing to shut down those private prisons. And a lobbyist for the prison guards union -- the California Correctional Peace Officers Association -- was caught on a tape-recorded message crowing to union members about the governor's decision.

"As many of our members are aware, the whole concept of privatization has been a thorn in our side," lobbyist Jeff Thompson, who has since left the union, said on the message. "That move is appreciated. It does follow through with promises made by Gov. Davis in past years on this subject matter. So the governor \ a man of his word in that regard."

"If we learned anything from this energy debacle, it is that private companies will do what's in the interest of their shareholders,

Is fiduciary responsibility not due to the taxpayers??

Quid quo pro ad infinitum.

I love all this negative ink Gov Dufus is reaping. He deserves every ounce.

One more nail in Davis' coffin ... unfortunately, the CCPOA is a powerful union with tons of money and they will do everything they can to keep Davis in office.

There is coming a time -very shortly- that the people can not/ will not rely on our charade of voting & the citizens of this nation must take matters into their hands. If you want to live under totalitarianism/ socialism/communism etc then let leaders such as we have in California to thrive. If you want government of/by/for the people these thugs must be ousted by whateven means it takes. And the good people of this country better lazer their objective to these Klintoons who are as big of threat to us as the middle east saga.

If we lose our cultural war with the Clintoons, the Davis's, the Da$$holes, the Burtons, and other RATS, that is as dangerous as losing the war against terrorism.
