Exemptions allow 9,000 to join the rolls even as the deficit grows. More than 9,000 new workers joined the state payroll under a hiring freeze imposed by Gov. Gray Davis as state finances hit the skids last fall.

In the five months after the freeze began in October, state hiring was down just 29 percent compared with the same period the previous year, a Bee analysis found.

When has any government ever kept itself from getting fatter? Remember when Klintoon ran around claiming he had cut the number of fed. employees.

Davis proves that he has about as much skill at fiscal responsability as Pataki in New York.

Thanks!

What is not listed are the high paying so called exempt jobs of top Rats working for Davis or his SS departments.

Also, not listed are the legions of card carrying Rats hired as consultants to help Davis present his lies and to rake in more $$$$$$'s as donations.

Thanks

You're welcome.

One thing that disturbs me about the $$ Dept. of Correction$-- according to that chart, they don't "correct" anything.

The hirelings at the Dept of Corrections are a quad whammy against conservative tax payers.

Davis has raised their pay to very high rates to buy their votes. Now he is hiring more as the prison population drops. All of these card carrying Rats, donate to his campaign and then vote for him and other rats!

Ken Mandler, publisher of Capitol Weekly, has a different reason for disliking the administration's hiring freeze claim. His newspaper subsists on advertisements for state jobs. For months, Mandler has been running articles to persuade his readers, potential job seekers, that the "freeze" is not real.

"Nine out of 10 people will say there's a state hiring freeze," he said. "They just saw the headline. Politically, that's the only thing the governor needed."

This says it all!

Say, Grampa, despite our energetic forays, let me tell my short, sad story.

AS a California native, a high tax paying native, I decided not to leave my home state. The question remained, how to deal with state and federal taxes that exceeded 55%. The answer came in the late night. Stop working. With the Stump ranch paid for, two grand in property tax would be easy. The rest of the "problem" issues would be dealt with one by one. Tobacco, quit or roll my own. Health insurance, discontinue. High liquor and banned products, Nevada. Dining out, discontinue. Trash collection, burn. High tax and registration auto costs, drive an old polluting clinker. Animal license fees, discontinue. Donations to little league, discontinue. Allow people to casually trespass and enjoy the Stump ranch, stop with threat of arrest, a result of greatly reduced homeowners policy.

I could go on, however law enforcement costs would go up. As California tax revenues decrease, user fees and confiscatory taxes by any name, increase. The governing bodies inflate their already bulbous, obese, necrotic appendages.

As you go about your daily parasitic routines, all the while augering deeper and deeper into the government womb, ask yourself, how did I get so far down. How many US citizens work for the growing tumor of big government? Who signs your check?

I'm not refering to Grampa, I'm refering to 40% of America!!
