My wife said there was a low level energy alert today for northwestern Cal. Did yoy hear any thing about it ?

No , I have not heard of any low level's. In fact someone commented on a thread somewhere that it looked like they had planned for an abundance, like over by 10,000 Mw!

Yes, the first alert for this year was issued Friday.

(AP) - State power grid operators issued their first alert in nine months, saying that energy supplies were low because of a heat wave in the Southwest that forced out-of-state wholesalers to divert electricity elsewhere. The California Independent System Operator declared the alert Thursday. It was the lowest level of warning used by the agency and called on power generators to avoid unnecessary outages. State officials said it doesn't appear that the warning means future blackouts this summer. The alerts were almost a daily occurrence in the summer of 2000...
