South said COPS pulled its endorsement of Davis after trying unsuccessfully to shake the campaign down for $100,000 to buy onto a slate mailer before the primary election when the governor had no significant Democratic opposition.

This is the middle of June hot shot. I was together with the rest of my family the other day and none of us could remember the last time we saw a Simon story let alone something directed at Davis. If you want to play pinhead games you can throw the two events for him that my group are trying to put together. Totally false. Every poll taken in the past two months has Simon either tied or ahead (I think one poll had Davis up by 2 points).

The lazy press only rely on the publily released PR polls. in this case they are probably talking about the Field Poll from April. The field poll does not screen for likely voters.
