The day after Assemblyman Dean Florez was yanked off a legislative committee that investigated the Davis administration's computer software contract with Oracle Corp., the only defenders of the Shafter Democrat came from the opposition party.

Behind closed doors Wednesday, the Assembly Democratic caucus gave Speaker Herb Wesson a standing ovation for not only removing Florez from the chairmanship of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee but for kicking him off the panel completely.

Florez said the real reason for his dismissal was an upcoming series of hearings he was planning to hold on audits of the state's Department of Veterans Affairs -- reports that he said will paint an unflattering picture of the administration-run agency.

How did the old superman intro go...truth, justice, and the American way! Yes Democrats are the party of the people.....the people who lie, the people who exploit their supporters, the people who line their pockets. When a Democrat tries to do what they think as an individual is ethically right, they get dumped and the party lines up candidates to make sure they loose the next primary race in their district. Ah, yes....the American Democratic party way!

This is just aother example that Davis is a power hungry thug and a bully trying to run California as if he were Al Capone in Chicago.

Fortunately our unstable megalomaniac of a governor will soon learn that the people of California are on to him.

Go Simon!

I wonder if the Republicans could put Florez on the committee in one of their slots. That would be too funny.

Ha. The Dems just made an instant hero out of a virtual unknown. Now everyone will remember the name Florez and how he stood up to corruption. Oops for Davis.

Assemblywoman Sarah Reyes, D-Fresno

If you want to know what's wrong with the California Assembly, Reyes is a poster child.

The best idea is if Florez wins in November and if the Democrats still treat him like crap he can defect :)

Florez is termed out in the Assembly and is running for a seat in the Senate. He'll have a new group ostracizing him if he wins. I'm wondering if he might vote with the Republicans on the budget as an 'in your face' to Wesson. The temptation must be great.

if Florez smells conspiracy involving the governor

On his Tuesday or Wednesday radio show, Roger Hedgecock seemed to say something to the effect that Wesson removed Florez at the behest of Gray Davis. It makes sense, too, since Davis' political future was hurt more than anyone else's by the Oracle hearings.

The newspaper's title, "Florez's discipline hailed by own party"
is confusing. (not your fault)

I first thought it meant that Florez's party hailed his ethics and determination in pursuing the Oracle scandal despite the fact that the vindictive governor is from the same party. Only after I read the article did I realize that the author meant Florez's party hailed the decision by Wesson to punish Florez.
