Most importantly why would you want someone MORE liberal than Davis to be governor?

I seriously doubt it. But I assure you that Simon's securities problems go far deeper than this. At least Riordan had a chance of being elected.

In principle, you're right. I supported Schundler over Franks, for example. But Simon, for purely personal reasons, is singurely unelectable.

Who was the last conservative Republican to win any statewide office in California? Of course, Simon would win against Davis if he were not such a flawed candidate, and I am not speaking about ideology here.

That maybe true but it explains why Bush was supporting Riordan...

And many on this forum criticized Bush for it... Well it appears that Bush knew more than many on this forum...
