IMHO, I agree, Davi$ could be preparing for defeat and in True ClinTon fashion, making as big a mess of things as possible so the repubs will get the blame and the task of cleaning things up. This 2002 election is going to be a real knockdown at the end. I can hardly wait.

Nah, Davis doesn't have that kind of mind. He is so arrogant (and so sure the vote fraud fix is in) that he can't even imagine himself losing, no matter what policies he supports. So he endorses this to keep the Left from defecting to the Green Party.

This 2002 election is going to be a real knockdown at the end. I can hardly wait. Unfortunatly, this election won't even be close. Simon will lose by at least 7 points come election day. By playing to the left, Davis is making a smart move. Simon's only chance is to energize the right-wing base, which he seems interested in alienating.
