This is rediculous. Why should people who aren't even born yet have to pay for the electricity we used last year when they turn 18 and start working?

Yep. There should be no takers for these bonds. And the people of California should be in a revolt.

Come on out here and walk around a shopping mall with a Simon for Governor T-Shirt on.

True. I wore my Simon shirt to the gym today and got two thumbs up.

You want a pleasant surprise? Come on out here and walk around a shopping mall with a Simon for Governor T-Shirt on.

Well, no one hopes you are right more than me. The thing I was thinking of, is this tax thing the Demon Cats keep bringing up about Simon. I hope it dies out, but who knows? BTW, do you experience this at the K Street Mall, Arden Way or what?

If Im not mistaken, I don't think the California state legislature was controlled by the Republicans nor was the deregulation legislation written by Republicans... Correct me if I am wrong , Please.

You are wrong. AB1890(Assembly Bill 1890) was authored by (R) Jim Brulte who was also Assembly Speaker when the Republicans controlled the State Assembly in 1996....AB1890 (deregulation) was signed by (R) Republican Governor Pete Wilson Sept. 1996 to be implemented Jan. 1998 (after Wilson's term).....The rest, as they say, is history.

BTW, this didn't happen overnight. California had (2) Republican governors for 16 cosecutive years prior to Davis.

Where has it been tried without price controls?

That's just it. It won't work without price controls...And isn't "price controls" a "regulation"?

(California went 20+ years without any new power plants)

California had republican governors for 16 consecutive yrs before Davis. Wilson, the 2 term (8yrs) Republican Governor who signed the "deregulation" bill didn't see any need in building any either I guess.

You are wrong too. Jim Brulte was never Assembly Speaker. Curt Pringle was the Republican Assembly Speaker in 1996 (and I never worked for a finer man).

How would you know?

As I may have mentioned before, my Simon bumper sticker is on my car, and one of my fellow employees complained about being a dumb conservative.

I sent him a few articles I'd gathered from Free Republic, and much to his credit, he admitted I was right.

If that doesn't show Davis can be beaten in November, I don't know what would.

Obviously I need a shirt. How do I get one?

You have to admit, Pistol Pete sure did have a way with understatement. (He was no prize package, either; between his periodically air-headed leadership and Republican campaign incompetence, that was how savant Davis got himself elected last time. Considering the competition, even Austin Powers could have run on a dry-cleaning ticket and won the race.)

Thanks to both of you. In the end, it really won't matter where this piece of legislation came from. The fact that when it was proved to be deficient, the best the Guv and legislators could do was Panic and mortgage the sate's future. The Republicans may not be clean but that didn't give GraYout A License to Kill the Economy Single-Handedly.

Why are they borrowing 400 million more than the debt? Are they financing 400 million of the deficit without telling the public about it?

'Tis what happens when you put up a deregulation plan that was not proper deregulation, as well as trusting an idiot savant like Davis with the switches.

I disagree with this statement....there's nothing savant-like about him. He's just a garden variety idiot.

Well, I figured he was functioning - even if the manner in which he functions leaves too much to be desired. Now, if you're referring by "garden variety" to mean that his word and deed are about two parts slicing his own baloney and 98 parts what the landscapers spread around the lawn and garden, you've got a point...
