John and Ken, the KFI afternoon/drive-time show, have been extremely opposed to the phoney air quality bill that Davis signed yesterday. I didn't hear the spot you mention. It may be an editorial from the KFI station management. The problem as far as I, as a Republican voter, am concerned, is that Simon hasn't done anything with this issue.

I saw in the sacbs web site this am that he had released his returns and they show that he has in fact, paid "his share" of taxes.

Scratch that. Since I'm sure that Simon is like all of us here at FR, he's paid more than his share of taxes.

Don't we all? ;-)

Check out this press release from Simon:

Simon opposes AB1058 (my title)

The problem with the Simon campaign is that they are not using the "free media." Either they don't know how, or they don't think it's necessary.

Along with your anti-SUV protest--eg. Simon's lost opportunity.

Try the electricity issue. Mr. KABC has been on Davis about the mismanagement. He has been inviting Simon to come on his radio show; no response.

Now maybe Mr. Simon has a secret plan, to emerge from the shadows, with a brilliant last minute touchdown run. Maybe he and his handlers are far more sophisticated, and don't think he needs the free-media exposure we're talking about.

I will vote for Mr. Simon, I agree with his politics, I am a long term Republican. And I predict he will lose, because he has run a dumb campaign. If you feel otherwise, we can agree to disagree.

If ever there was an opportunity to go with both barrels against an incumbent, Davis was the chance. Simon hasn't taken the opportunity.

I agree with your points about Simon, truth_seeker. I will also vote for him and hope for a miracle.

With respect, Gophack, that press release was dated May 22. More to the point, a press release is no substitute for the candidate getting out and personally taking advantage of opportunities like the KFI caravan and the Mr. KABC invitation that truth_seeker mentions in his post. If ever an issue were tailor-made for a Republican candidate for governor in this state, that anti-driver bill Davis just signed is it.

The official re-elect Davis campaign has been on the attack on the airwaves.

Not in central California. The only thing on the "airwaves" in the San Joaquin Valley are the Davis attack ads.

That's what Saracino was talking about. The "official re-elect Davis campaign" IS the attack ads.

Is this another complaint that he is not talking, or that the media is not reporting?

As most Freepers, I read the paper daily, watch local news, and listen to the radio all day, and I always hear it reported "Bill Simon was in Fresno yesterday..."

I never hear it the day before, or the day of his appearance, always after the fact.

Running a lousy campaign just like Dan Lundgren did last time.

Let's hope someone can light a fire under him to get him going. This is war. I hope Simon realizes this.

Gray Davis gets all the press time, and running attack ads like crazy. If Davis wins just by attacking Simon (which I think is very possible), it's Simons fault!

Was the bill that Davis signed similar to the one that floated around here showing huge increases in registration fees and gas taxes? Or were these things dropped from this 'greenhouse gas/save the whales/feed the children/you should be ashamed for owing an SUV' bill?

I don't disagree with you. I think the whole IRS/tax thing distracted Simon from this. Not that it is an excuse, mind you, but to have the most feared government agency releasing your name associated with illegal activity -- but not accusing you or anyone else -- would freak anyone out.

Hmmmmm ... wonder about the timing.

Simon needs to remove his head from his colon and call simply say if das-hole won't release his tax returns, neither will he.

Otherwise, he can spend the next few years sitting at home talking about how SHOULD have run his campaign...while Davis is back in sacto.

Simon's TV ads should only show a montage of clips of Davis' wackier rants from the past 4 years (including all his flip/flops during the Electric Crisis) and, in the last frame the words "HAD ENOUGH?" This would kill Gray if you could just afford to put it on every channel as often as Davis' attack-ads.
