California: State budget stalemate: Day 24

State Controller Kathleen Connell held a news conference to discuss who will get paid during the budget impasse -- and who won't.

Gov. Gray Davis, legislators, other constitutional officers, Board of Equalization members, legislative staffers and 376 appointed executive officers won't receive paychecks during the stalemate, she said.

Connell said school funding will not be affected, nor will paychecks for the state's 250,000-member work force.

What happened to the lawsuit the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association won, which required the state to restrict spending, such as paying above minimum wage, after July 1st until a budget passed?

I saw Davis on television claim that this "Republican" stalemate will cost the lives of patients who need state funded treatment. He said he delivered HIS budget, its up to them to approve (rubber stamp) or create an alternative. He won't participate in developing an alternative budget. Little runt!

GraYouT says its his job to propose a budget, BUT it isn't his responsibility to pass it .

This is why he says its OK that he is sitting on his hands while the state govt teeters on the edge of collapse. :-\
