Given that the state has a long record of messing up on technology purchases, predating the Davis administration, you've got to wonder if the gang in Sacramento ever will figure it out. If that doesn't rankle enough, consider that the mess happened in a state that regards itself as the world's cradle of high technology.

Ping .. Forgot to post this one earlier.

When will newspapers start making endorsements this year? Before or after debates ( if there are any) ? I almost see the Merc leaning toward Simon, almost ;-)

Attorney General Bill Lockyer conducting a criminal investigation = Janet Reno's Justice Dept. investigating Clinton scandals.

I heard on the radio within the last three weeks that Davis finally accepted an LA Times offer to debate Simon, who had challenged Davis long ago. No schedule or format for this debate or for others, if any, was mentioned.

I hope they will discuss real issues. The 3rd GOP primary debate was uninteresting ... abortion this, abortion that -- the "panelists," all employed by the liberal media and including one LA Times reporter, completely avoided asking any substantive questions that might help a voter discover each candidate's vision and policy ideas.
