Naw. If even half of the politicos in Montgomery were truly on the take, we'd already have our existing Constitution scrapped so that they could tax the heck out of us (setting them up for campaign contributions for people who want exemptions from the new taxes).

Ah yes, carrying on the tradition of Boss Tweed!
I'm amazed that the media actually does investigative reporting anymore. Seems it would be grounds for expulsion from the communist party!
I'm wondering now how much Canada gave him for not getting rid of MTBE?

``There is no way in the world that contribution had anything to do with policy, because it is public for all the world to see,'' said Davis spokesman Steve Maviglio. ``Any allegation to that effect is ludicrous.''

It worked for Bill and Hillary. Hope it doesn't work for Greyout.

I really don't think this is going to matter. As much as I want Simon to win, I don't think he will.

Unfortunately, you're right. Today's Simon picture in the LA Times (their photo editors are expert at picking the one angle/moment that most makes him look like a robotic dork) catches him getting his tie pulled by some tots at a daycare center. It looks like the kid is saying "Hey loser - down here!"

Don't forget the Sales Tax and the road taxes on each gallon of evil gasoline. Our state budget would even be worse if gasoline wasn't around to tax.

I will vote against him Davis....Simon has to get out and
be more visible to voters...can't recall him being in our
Southern California area.....the nitwits up north will
all be for the Democrat-Davis....Need to get out the vote
with strong showing....Guliani should be making commericals
for Simon and spending time out here for him....Jake

the day after the water board voted not to ease the pollution limits on Feb. 16, 2000, Davis -- who appoints the board's members -- received $55,500 from Tosco.... An additional $15,000 followed before the board issued its unusual reversal

More quid pro quo bump -- $70k for permission to dump five times more dioxin (0.65 picograms per liter). Several years ago some environmental groups pressured Ben and Jerry's ice cream to switch to unbleached cartons because bleached paper may contain dioxins or the bleaching process may release dioxins into rivers.

Well well well...aren't things getting a little dicey for Señor Davis? I can't believe the Murky News would feature such a connection. Will wonders never cease (they'll still endorse him over Simon, but still...)

Simon isn't the warmest guy around, but compared to Davis, he's Mr. Charm itself. I think the reason you aren't seeing him much yet is his lack of money. I think you'll be hearing a good deal more as the election approaches.

Personally, I do not want another Alan Alda/Phil Donahue-style governor...
I would prefer SUPERMAN as a potential role model...

I hope this makes Davis really popular with the Greenies and the Bay Area liberals. If so, I suggest more dumping.
What a crook.
