Sacramento area freepers: There's a Simon Rally tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in Sacramento at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Don't forget to take your signs.

Thanks for the ping!
We'll be protesting Davis' decision on CO2 and SUV's at the San Diego Zoo, tomorrow. I wonder if we'll make the news?

Wish I had the gas money, and I'd have to leave tonight to have any hope of hitting Sacto in time, but here's a bump anyway.

It's 9:30 as I write this. Sacramento Police are digging through the General Orders to determine if a permit is needed for the "larger" (30-40) group of "demonstrators". The sergeant says the smaller group of 10 won't need one. There's a debate at the moment whether the number is 20 or more that triggers the permit requirement.
When we Freep I always check in with the Sector Sergeant beforehand to avoid this problem. If we think the number will exceed 50 people, we have two options:
1) Get the permit
2) Keep splitting the group by taking opposite sides of the street or street corners.
I hope it was Simon supporters who were the larger group, but knowing how the Davis Camp works, we might be looking for the busses and pay-stubs.
Either way it turns out, it never hurts to get with cops before, rather than during such Freeps. You'll find most support our issues and OUR respect for the "Rule of Law". It's a fairly common practice for the Lrftist to use confrontational tactics with police to garner media attention. The media feeds on unruly demonstrators.
