Is Gov. Gray Davis lucky or what? That refrain echoed across the state yesterday morning as Californians opened their papers to headlines that a Los Angeles jury had found Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon's firm liable for $78 million in compensatory and punitive damages for defrauding a business partner.

I knew the Sacremento Bee would finally come out with anti Bill Simon hit piece. Hey this is earth shaking news. We know he's not a politician and isn't even an honest businessman. I think GrayDown wrote this morning's editorial of theirs.

Bill Simon was not named in the suit, so the conclusion that he is not an honest businessman cannot be drawn.

The sad thing is in politics perception is reality. Since the firm was established by Simon that is all Davis needs to run commercials attacking and defaming the man.

Simon got front page coverage...nice big picture of him, by the LA Times. When Toricelli was getting his punishment, this was on like page A12.

Kob, that is a given.

Now, the job is to get all the dirt on GraYouT and get the media to cover it as vociferously as it has done with Simon.

What would you suggest, seriously?

Why I haven't take the Bee (Ess) for years.

A gal tried to sell us a subscription a while back. I said, "No, thank you, I'm not really interested... because I DESPISE the Bee."

She slumped and said, "Everybody keeps telling me that."

Okay, I'll repeat myself, again.

Take the f****** gloves off. Simon missed a perfect opportunity to smash Davis over the pollution and campaign contributions the other day. Hell, John and Ken on 640KFI in Los Angeles were roasting Davis over this yesterday and Simon should have called in. But alas, he missed another opportunity to put the proverbial stake in Davis.

Mr. Simon is running a "nice guy" campaign that is a one-way ticket to defeat. Lungren tried that in '98 and it was the biggest blow-out in the history of California in at least 100 years.

There is still time for Simon to change, I just don't think Bush will let him.

Thanks for posting your remarks. I have seen it before but Who knows who from the Simon camp might actually see it in here and tell Simon, "Hey, Even Good Guys Get in Fights. Now Get in There and Get Dirty for a Change."

I don't think his supporters would think any less of him were he to blast Davi$. Now if the media will cover it is another question.

Your comment about the call-in opportunity is well-taken.

Again, Thanks!

I'm curious Norm what you think of Michael Savage declaring today, August 2nd, that Simon is finished based upon the court case going against him.

Damm if the Republican propaganda machine isn't breaking down as well as the rest of the Republican Party.

It doesn;t surprise me. I guess I could flame him, but I won't. He has done a lot to get a message out .. Language, Borders, Culture .. He has been a voice in the wilderness.

He has been ,I know this sounds funny coming from me, a bit overboard in some of his protestations of certain issues and such.

He bashed Bush early and often. I guess I would rather Bush got a kindler , gentler bashing considering the mess he inherited.

Altho immigration policy and borders have not been among Bush's shining accomplishments so far.

I used to follow Jim Eason for years, too bad he hung it up. Savage drops callers quicker then Davi$ pockets money.

I'm watching this race from Seattle, WA. I have one question. Why try to take over a sinking ship (California) from the Captain at the helm (Grey Davis)?
