CBS's Fantasy: Mrs. Reagan Slaps Patti

Part of the sleazy script of CBS's "The Reagans" seen by Matt Drudge shows a scene at the Reagans' house in Pacific Palisades after Ronald Reagan won the presidency.

According to the script, as revealed by Drudge Report today, Nancy Reagan is upstairs in daughter Patti's bedroom while Ronald Reagan is downstairs getting ready to do TV interviews.

Nancy is depicted arguing with 5-year-old Patti, who won't come downstairs.

NANCY: Come on, Patti. They're all set to go.

PATTI: No. I won't. I want to stay up here and play.

Nancy grits her teeth and takes Patti by the wrist.

NANCY: No arguing. We're going down, right now.

PATTI: No! No! No! No! NO! NO!

The script says that Nancy then "reaches out and slaps Patti. Patti reels, holding her cheek. Nancy freezes."

The real challenge with this phony Reagan movie will be finding any part of it that isn't fiction.

You didn't just ask a question, you infered a double standard with regards to the Mel Gibson film, which was insulting. Unlike those who are criticizing Gibson, we heard what CBS is planning to do. As another poster pointed out, it's not even analogous.

Drudge did Rush's radio show today and played many many soundbites from the actual movie.

Believe me, it was shameful.

Drudge was on Hannity and Colmes last night. He said he has seen the entire movie, not just clips. He had a video tape in his hand. He slammed the movie hard. Was not happy.

I think the confusion over this scene in the movie was caused by Newsmax. Here's part of the script from Drudge's website. Newsmax has combined two exerpts from the script together.

Listening to the clips of this on Drudge today, I have to assume they gave a FAKE tape to Drudge to make Drudge look bad!!

The dialogue was so bad, the music hideous, the acting a JOKE, that I think Drudge got sucked in thinking this is the REAL movie......like someone giving him the fake info on Blumenthal beating his wife.....all to discredit Drudge.

Any bets that the movie will not be ANYTHING like this AWFUL clip? Especially AFTER they hear the LAUGHTER among the OUTRAGE!

Well, evidently Drudge has seen the thing and it is Brolin mimicking Reagan and this actress doing Nancy played Judy Garland recently and Drudge noted she just plays Nancy the same way.

Really! It was the carrying on by Nancy that had my jaw dropping. She sounded nothing like Mrs. Reagan. The dialogue was along the lines I'd imagined, except more over the top. As you say, a caricature of itself.

Still ticked me off that they are so vicious about their lies. Oh, and the music sounded right up Streisand's alley.

I'll stand by my first comment....the clips are FAKE! These were probably cutting room pieces because they are so AWFUL! The clips will be LAUGHED OUT OF TOWN!! Not even the hideous liberals can churn out stuff this HORRIBLY done!

If so, the worst that will happen is Drudge can take credit for getting CBS to change the script. And if by chance it is a fake, I would think those who misled a nation would be the target for the anger...not Drudge, who as a reporter (supposedly) did nothing more than communicate a story. He didn't even give out phone #s and contact info. I think which ever way it goes, CBS comes out looking bad.
