Hospital warns migrants to pay up: Says failure could mean deportation

TUCSON - Uninsured immigrants who fail to pay their medical bills are being reported to immigration officials and warned that they could face deportation under a new University Medical Center policy.

This month, hospital workers started calling the federal bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to turn in "foreign nationals" with delinquent accounts, said Barbara Felix, UMC's international patient service's coordinator. The policy, affecting legal and undocumented immigrants, reflects the growing frustration of hospital administrators along the U.S.-Mexican border saddled with millions of dollars in uncompensated care. UMC alone has incurred $3.3 million in unpaid bills from immigrants since July.

Steve Malzberg has many scoops from his WABC 770am NYC talk show interviews with lefties; usually those he dies Sundays from 9am-noon.

Steve draws people out, it ends up in NYC papers the next day.

You are right about Mexico "thinning out the peons".

You often come up with a good example I never think to bring up.

Mexico used it's army on southern Mexico Indians as I recall.

Not covered much by US media either.

Kind of ties in with your observation about them shoving the little guys north. (and welcoming the US dollars sent ome to families)

I found some stats about fed prisons as of 1997.

Blacks made up 40.17%, "whites" 56.67% I put "whites" in quotes because fed stats always put hispanics in the "white" bucket. Then later down, we see that "hispanics" make up 27.46%, so the real breakdown is black 40%, hispanic 27%, non-hispanic-white 29%, so minorities make up 2/3 of the prison population. Of the hispanic segment, how many are illegal aliens is unknown. The total fed prison pop was 110K in 1997.

Possibly the ">50%" stat came from adding together the alien prison population to the number of aliens in federal custody awaiting deportation hearings

Yes, they crushed the Chiapas rebellion in the south if I recall correctly. Back in, oh, I think 94... They also had issues with the Yanquis etc... Now, the goal is to move them out little by little until they are gone... It's not just the "Indians" they are persecuting, but Christians and Jews also face persecution in Mexico - many of the Indians, of course, are catholic and face persecution for that as well.

Pretty intolerant country, Mexico. THen, they have the nerve to project that on US... Go figure.

Hospitals ask for insurance and social security #. If no ss#, the hospital provides a bogus # such as 999-99-9999. This bogus # is used by the hospital for all illegals that use that hospital. Each hospital has their own bogus #. Remember, the hospital has to have documentation to collect from the government.

The US citizen has a social security number.

Problem is local police agencies often send poor reports; NYC downplays felonies (misreporting) to the FBI, Reno kept much under wraps to boost Clinton; Puerto Rico never seems to have full info in the Uniform Crime Reports

From friends I know in Puerto Rico the crime there is pretty appalling and not covered in the US media at all

I pay $461.00 a month for health insurance for my wife and I, and the government takes $229.66 a week out of my paycheck, and these FU**ING ILLEAGLES get all irate if they can't get free medical attention.
It's time to round them all up and deporte evry one of them.

I've never heard of asking patients to pay up front. Not saying it doesn't happen, but in 44 years, I've never heard of such a thing.

 

It wasn't a Choice,  either Pass out from the pain and go via the Emergency Room or Pay $10,000.00 up Front, it was the Dr. that was doing the Surgery that told us to go back and say that we wanted to pay everything up front (Which by the way was the same as the Down Payment amount of $10,000.00) and not make payments (Which would have been an additional $10,000.00). The Dr. saved us $10,000.00 and years of payments.

As I mentioned in my last post we have since found Health Insurance, which is a whole lot cheaper than a cash advance on a credit card.

It is interesting to know that the Feds count all hispanics as white, since some are certainly black. But if they stick to that rule of thumb, as you demonstrated it makes it easier to detangle the stats.

Of course an illegal immigrant could be of any race. I got the impression that many, if not most, of the Walmart cleaning crews were from Europe.

They are. There is a mass of pregnant mexican women who make sure they hope over the border before they deliver so that they not only get free health care but once their citizen children are born these children qualify for food stamps and cash assistance. And they are not the only foreigners taking advantage of this system.
