[history]
THE Democratic Party slit its throat last night, abandoning 12 years of pragmatism to indulge in a nominee who's very unlikely to win. While John Edwards closed the gap that separated him from John Kerry, the front-loading of the nominating process proved too drastic to permit second thoughts. Once the Democratic voters had discarded Howard Dean and embraced Kerry, they did not have the dexterity to rethink Kerry in the light of the Edwards alternative.

He said Hill would not run in 04 and so far has proven right about that.Ah, but that depends on what the meaning of "run" is...

"John Edwards, as a Southern moderate, . . ."
This statement tends to discredit everything else he says.

Among the few voters in Ohio who will decide this election, the decision will be purely emotional and it will be almost entirely shaped by television personna, especially during the debates. Ohio rejected liberal candidates for President in 1980, 1984, and 1988, all by large margins.
Why would you choose to assume that they will pull the lever for the Senator with the most liberal voting record in 2003?

Their only hope now is to have Kerry fake some illness in early to mid October and sneak Hillary onto the ticket ala Torrecelli.DO NOT forget that Democrats have a high rate of dying in plane crashes.

I thought I read somewhere, within the last day or two, that Kerry doesn't poll to well among independents.

I regret to say this but Kerry passes the first test: He looks presidential. He can "win" the debates. Bush can make a horrible gaff. Kerry has the big media locked and they will smother any good Bush issue as well as Kerry's record which so shocks us. Any toe stub by Bush will be rendered into a major fall from grace. Bush must be perfect but he is gaff prone. Even if everything you say were true - you're forgetting our Ace-In-The-Hole (A-hole for short) - and that is none other than Hillary "The Ice Queen" Clinton. Her Machiavellian and greedy ambition compels her to slit her own grandmother's throat, if necessary, to preserve her chances in 2008.
Don't even doubt for a minute, that she's standing by with a bottle of poison, periodically secreting just enough into the media waters, to ensure Kerry's defeat.

You are correct in that you and I won't decide this election. Our votes are effectively already cast.
Kerry has the big media locked and they will smother any good Bush issue as well as Kerry's record which so shocks us.
I think the second part of your statement might surprise us. We agree that Kerry has a closet full of skeletons, but I believe they'll come out in the liberal press for several reasons:
- Liberals will always do the most counter-intuitive thing in any situation.
- Liberals are hard wired for treason.
- Some of the skeletons are just too juicy for even an ACLU Card carrying liberal news hound to ignore.
Kerry seems over confident that the press will give him a free pass, but I believe he's going to be in for a rude awakening.

Fox News exit poll analysis yesterday showed that in those states where independents were allowed to vote in the Democratic primary, they chose Edwards over Kerry. I believe this suggests that Kerry will not do well at winning the independents in the fall election.
See Fox News Mar 2 Exit Poll Analysis for details.

This election is entirely about "Hate Bush".
Too many Dems have either jumped ship since 9/11 or simply won't vote b/c they don't hate Bush as much as those running the party. Kerry offers not one iota of anything positive other than "he's the candidate most capable of beating bush." Big deal. If he actually wins, then it's time to cash in your IRAs and 401Ks, and head for the hills.
I predict an election not nearly as close as everyone is thinking right now. Of course there will be the usual democratic corruption finding rosters of voters who vote for Kerry yet assumed room temperature eons ago, or the tales of voting machines "making pitstops on the way to where they're supposed to be going."
If the dems have trouble winnning Florida, then that's not a good sign and I don't think it's gonna be that close in Florida. The Dems have really PO'd some people and the ones in the media and the dems that are running the party are not the mainstream dems. Hatred is the dems biggest campaign issue and there will be enough people not wanting to sign onto that that it's going to make a huge difference come this fall.
Having said that, the GOP needs to fight this battle to the end and need to get their vote out. A lapse here could be costly. There are numerous things that could boost Bush by the election as well. Finding Bin Laden is one of them. Continued economical growth.
If Kerry's time is spent fighting rumors of some bimbo he bedded, then he's in more trouble regardless of whether or not it's true. At some point, there's gonna be a huge emphasis on issues now that Kerry's all but the Dem candidate. His absentism, his EXTREME voting record, his monotonous delivery which is far worse than Bush's, and his hailing from Mass is not going to get anyone out the door in November. How many people are gonna go vote just b/c they hate Bush? There will be plenty, but not nearly enough to give Kerry a win barring election day corruption such as is unprecedented in the history of this nation.
What's that liberal bumper sticker that we always see...
..."Hate is not a family value!"
Funny how it seems to be when the circumstances are "appropriate."

George Bush's inability to appeal to voters on issues other than the War on Terror opened a door for the Democrats, but John Kerry will have difficulty fitting through it. I feel the war on terror is will be the biggest issue this election. We cannot afford to have Kerry in the White House and bow down to terrorists. If we allow him to be elected, we can expect events similar or worse than 9/11 on a regular basis. The same extremist Islamic groups that want to destroy Israel, want the same fate for us.

Once the Bush campaign committee starts running ads showing Kerry as a waffler and a flip-flopper and starts getting the word out there about Kerry's weakness on national security and his liberal voting record, Kerry's mother won't even want to vote for him.

No problem. Looks like people are interested in talking about it some more, so might as well.
Everybody's worrying for no reason. I was worried as long as the media was trying to prop up Edwards and he still had a chance. Edwards could've given Bush a tough fight, because he generally maintains a positive attitude.
But Edwards is out now, so I'm not worried at -all- anymore.
Kerry has a tremendous amount of dirt on him - far more dirt than Dean had, and that was enough to make Dean "unelectable". The only reason Dems think Kerry is more electable than Dean is because they don't know him well enough yet. It could just as easily have gone the other way - if Kerry had been the early front-runner, they would've realized after a few months what a nutcase he is and ditched him a few weeks ago too and put Dean in his place. That wouldn't make Dean any more electable.
Democrats (and to some extent, those Independents who are just that way cause they're politically lazy) are slow as molasses. It takes them -months- to get to know a candidate, and the spotlight hasn't been on Kerry very long. When they discover how absolutely smarmy he is, they'll run away from him in droves.
Kerry's going to lose in a landslide. Bush will get at least 3/4 of the electoral vote, and Kerry will not win a single southern state. Count on it.

Dick Morris' prognosticating history.
Hillary Clinton will not run for the Senate.
Umm... she is going to drop out of the race.
Ummm, Rick Lazio is going to trounce Hillary.
I would feel safer if Morris was predicting a Kerry landslide. This guy is awful at predictions.
To: Quilla
PravdABDNC needs to ask Yaaaawn Tax & Kerry if he would have deployed troops to Iraq or Trashcanistan?? The answer of course is no, but he will give some fuzzy multinational answer. The follow-up is since France, Russia and Germany were paid by Saddamn to vote no, how long would you have waited?? What if there was another attack while you waited, it would be your fault! Make the people think about their safety in his hands.
