We've all done it. You've just gotten home, logged on to FR, and are scrolling down the "Latest Posts" page, deciding which thread will get your attention this evening, when THAT SCREENNAME jumps out at you in a "to" or "from" position. You are powerless to resist; if THAT GUY's there, it's gonna be a good thread...

All of us have our own "favorites" among the many colorful souls who congregate at this fine website. They could be someone you disagree totally with, agree completely with, or somewhere in between. They might be a fount of useful information, links, and facts. Our favorite might be devastating at the art of debate; demolishing opponents in truly unique style, or he might be just plain nuttier than squirrel dung, but fun nonetheless.

Perhaps your favorite FReeper has a way with words; an excellent writer. Maybe they are someone highly experienced in a particular field, with knowledge that many do not posess. Maybe they're dumber than a bag of hammers.

Point is, no matter what the reason, our "favorite FReepers"' handle attached to a thread makes it all the more interesting to us; it guarantees a wild ride or sublime pleasure in the reading and learning. It may also guarantee an increase in blood pressure and indigestion, but one thing's for sure...that thread HE's on is gonna get a hit or two, and it won't be boring.

I've got more than a few of my own, and I'm sure all of you do as well. WHO'S YOURS?????????????????

My favorite FReepers are the ones I have met and learned to respect via this fine website. I know I will forget a few but nevertheless, my A list includes:

Leadpenny (Army Vietnam Vet, traveling partner to NYC - all around patriot and voice of reason, )
Kristinn (Warlord Extraordinaire; tireless, fearless, would follow him anywhere - enough said)
Angelwood (Warlord Extraordinaire; Kristinn's 'alter-ego' - warm heart and fearless FReeper)
TGSLTakoma (The behind the scenes driver that makes it work out on the streets - great mother and good friend )
BufordP (Air Force Vet, and FReeper of 'renown' - also known as Jimmy Valentine's Other Brother - steady and steely 'out on the streets')
Jimmy Valentine's Brother (A voice of Irish reason - contradiction in terms - but he makes it work, Army Vet - great wit and a 'Braveheart')
Sauropod (Another 'traveling partner' to NYC, tireless FReeper who 'gives a damn' - a 'Braveheart')
Doctor Raoul (FReeper of the first order; tireless, thoughtful and colorful - always sets new bench-marks from one FReep to another - another of the fearless FReeper Fraternity)
Ironman (One of my first FReeper friends, first explained to me about FR in front of "Cheney's House" - great tri-athlete - his passion)
Gore_War_Vet (Name says it all - tireless, opinionated - but holds true to his beliefs)
CommiesOut (Now deceased - never forgotten, he knew tyranny first-hand growing up in Poland at the height of the USSR's power, he loved this great country and took nothing for granted)
KLT (One of NYC's finest - great friend - heart of gold - a paison of the first order)
FreeTheHostages (Endless energy, big heart, smart and witty - first showed up at the PRC Embassy - hence the screen name - always encouraging - always a friend)
Taxman (Navy Vet - when he speaks - listen - voice of reason and activist of the first order)
Standwatie (Though he really believes the 'South Will Rise Again", he hangs tough in what he believes in, South Carolina is his passion)
Clinton's_A_Liar (Connie has endless energy and a passion - It was my pleasure to know her during the planning stages from some of the earliest ANSWER counter-protests - I know that she is no longer a FReeper - but sometimes meeting someone face-to-face and not solely via an Internet bulletin board puts things in certain perspectives - at least that is my humble opinion)
BobJ (Bob, regardless of any differences between you and the DC chapter, I appreciated our e-mail exchanges two years ago. What I said then still holds true today - thanks much for your personal support of FR when it was dearly needed)

Someone posted a ping list on that reply and made a mistake. He asked us to remove the post, but it will still show up in your comments.

There was nothing wrong with the pulled reply and that poster was not banned.

There really ought to be a way to indicate when a post has been deleted for such benign editing reasons rather than the more severe ones. Otherwise it leaves the impression that FR has/is becomming a hothouse of politically correct censorship with more pulled posts than is actually the case.

Maybe a little graphic of a kitty or bunny playing in a field of daisies? An eraser? Something...

Wow, had no idea this thread was here until the pings showed up. I hate trying to name favorites because I know I'll probably leave out some folks that I really admire. So if I've failed to mention someone, please don't be hurt. As a whole, I honestly like the entire lot of ya here on FR. Some standouts are:

MJY1288, Miss Marple, and OhioWFan: for always finding a silver lining in every cloud

Sabertooth: knowing I can count on him to weed through any immigration crap

All the Dose regulars: you keep everyone sane!

Kayak, Brad's Gramma, mrs tiggywinkle, GretchenEE: for keeping the Faith

The majority of freeper men: Intelligence, wit, charm, and integrity- I love you guys!

JohnHuang2: always great commentary to read

ASA Vet and BOBTHENAILER: My all around favorite locals!

And anyone who maintains PING lists and posts daily threads!!!!

Yep. heavyd, CHIEF negotiator, and Old Atlanta were original favorites of mine. Great freepers, RIP.

CHIEF negotiator and Laissezfirearm, in particular. LBGA's FReeper photo album is particularly missed by me. And in more recent times, I particularly miss Harpseal, and haven't had the heart to pull his name off a couple of the ping lists I maintain.

Well I have to start first with my very own FReeper husband M1911A1....WHO INTRODUCED ME TO FREE REPUBLIC!  I LOVE YOU!

 

The Canteen...THE WHOLE CANTEEN~ For their tireless support of military families!

Kathy in Alaska for supporting our family DAILY throughout my husband's deployment and sending him MULTIPLE care packages!

LindaSog...for teaching me how to link stuff and doing it for me until I could learn.
Tonk...for truly keeping the Canteen "centered" and informing me of important military issues.

RagtimeCowgirl for being a bastion of information, including military benefits and congressional issues.

The FReeper (who's name escapes me) who wrote to me so that she could send a video game system to Kuwait for the troops to have some entertainment!! THANKS!!!

Vetshusbandandwife...who councils me and being married to someone who is not here!!! ;-)...who invited me to dinner...who can explain the Military "system" in such a way that I don't feel like a dork!  THANKS TO YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP.

Texas Termite and his alter ego "Logan's Nana"thank you for trusting a whole bunch of people that you have never met, with your story, your lives and your photos!  I am a changed person because of you! (and Beth and Bud too).  Some day you all will be a made for TV movie...I AM SURE OF IT!!!
