Was I out of line against Howard "The Coward" Dean?
Posted on 04/20/2004 11:44:50 AM PDT by LSUsoph
Last night Howard came to speak at Tulane University, where I am a student and proud member of the Tulane College Republicans. Dean was paid 20,000 dollars (which comes out of MY fee bill) to come speak on "How people our age can be politically active" but instead he used it to spew his own venom and completely tear down the right wing and Republican Party, as well as our President. I don't think I have ever seen such a level of unprofessionalism in my life. He opens up and says "I understand even the College Republicans have decided to come today" and following boos he says "haha, we'll deal with them later". He then proceeds to speak about how the right wing is the downfall of our country and how everyone should belong to the DemocRATic party, which was exactly what he WASNT supposed to do. He also kept going on and on about how we all should "invest in small children ages 0-3" and how investing in small children (whatever that means) will solve a lot of our problems. So during Q and A I rushed to the microphone and I was told to address him as "Gov Dean or Dr Dean", but instead I start off by saying "Hi Howard, how you doin'" He said "fine thanks". I say "welcome to the great state of Louisiana". He says "its great to be here". So I get to my question "What percentage of the 20 thousand dollars we are paying you to come here is going to go towards the investment of small children?" After some boos and a puzzled look he says "Well that certainly is a demeaning question, one I dont think I will answer". Over the cheers I say "I expected that from you" and sat down. Was I out of line? I would appreciate any input.

You should forward this story to Rush, Hannity, etc.

You are the next in a fine line of conservatives from Tulane including Newt Gringrich, Bob Livingston, David Vitter and myself (although I have never run for anything).
You'd fit right in, if we can just get you to do something about that freeper id. You can't be a fan of the Paper Tigers anymore?

You don't understand. When Howard says that we need to invest in 0-3 year old children, he really means it. He means we, not him.
BTW. With two of my children and one grandchild so far, I have done plenty of investing in children. ;~))

Were you out of line? Are you kidding me, he got off easy as far as I am concerned considering what filth he was spewing!
His investment in the little children means training them from birth to be communists, with someone else's money you understand.

I am so proud of you! You were quick on your feet to think of this line of questioning, and I hope you will follow up with a letter to your student newspaper and another to the local paper. He took advantage of his invitation to spew his line of radicalism, and he should be called on it.

...Great question! Don't expect an answer. That's classified, you don't need to know, how did you get to the microphone?

I think it was utterly brilliant. You pointed out the cynicism and hyprocrisy of the left with one single question. It left him speechless. You are a brave person!

All of the College Republicans sat right by the microphone to purposely bum rush the mic so none of the liberals could get questions in. Unfortunately there were 2 microphones so we didnt get all the questions in but we got our share, but mine was by far the most "controversial" and I was the only one who addressed him as "Howard" and not "Dr Dean or Gov Dean" And no, I didnt expect him to answer at all, he is a liberal.

It was disgusting, frankly. We were told we COULD NOT protest outside or hold up any kind of posters and that we could not wear Bush/Cheney stickers (we told them the could not tell us to take them off and they backed off). You would have thought God himself came to speak with all the standing ovations and cheers. As a Conservative I was NOT ABOUT to let the lovefest and the Conservative bashing continue, and I really wish I could have debated the SOB.

I went to LSU for 2 years and joined FR my sophomore year at LSU (thus the name LSUsoph). I transferred to Tulane my JR year and decided to just keep my SN.

Great. I used to live in N.O. and knew that LSU and Tulane were rivals. Thanks and good luck.
