Bush Campaign Throwing 'Party for the President'

The Bush campaign is organizing a "National Party for the President Day" on Thursday, April 29 at 8:00 p.m. EST to allow supporters to gather together in unity behind President George W. Bush.

"Across the country, supporters of President Bush will gather in homes, restaurants and community centers to stand up for our President," Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman wrote in an e-mail to Bush supporters recently.

The free events are scheduled to take place in cities across the country, including in personal homes and at local restaurants.

The Bush campaign has even set up a special surprise for supporters who are able to get 5 or more people to attend their party.

Mehlman said their party "will include a conference call with a senior [Bush] campaign leader" at 8:30 p.m. EST.

He added, "This special guest will answer questions and deliver a political briefing on the progress of the campaign."

Describing the purpose of the "National Party for the President Day," Mehlman explained it "is a simple, volunteer event that brings together local friends and neighbors who support the President."

People who decide to host one of these parties will receive a package of materials from the Bush campaign, including an exclusive video about the campaign, bumper stickers, miscellaneous campaign materials and a signed letter from Bush.

"These fun, informal events will help grow the President's strong base of support in local communities throughout the country and bring the President one step closer to victory in November," Mehlman concluded.

He continued, "We have a hard fight in the days ahead and the President needs your help."

Even Vice President Dick Cheney is encouraging people to join him in the "National Party for the President Day" to cheer on the president to victory in November.

"On that day, I will be joining thousands of parties across the country on a live conference call to talk about the clear choice voters face this November and the importance of the grassroots effort that will lead us to victory," Cheney revealed. "The President and I are counting on grassroots activists, like you, to act on the commitment we all share."

Cheney said he will try to call as many of the parties as possible on April 29.

The goal of the Bush campaign is to have 2004 parties commemorating President Bush on April 29. At press time, there were 2,046 parties planned for that day and nearly 4,000 overall.

You can't contact the party person by yourself either since they only give the first name.

I sent in my request a month ago to be invited and haven't heard thing.

I guess I will just submit 4 requests in a row...

I sure as heck don't have the time to have my own party.

Cheney to Dial Up a Party

By Brian Faler
Friday, April 9, 2004; Page A04

Vice President Cheney is not known -- at least not publicly -- for his parties.

But this week he e-mailed millions of his campaign's closest supporters, inviting them to a "party for the president" later this month -- a soiree Cheney said he will address by telephone in what would be a massive conference call.

"I hope you'll be participating in National Party for the President Day on April 29th," said an e-mail bearing the vice president's signature. "I will be joining thousands of parties across the country on a live conference call to talk about the clear choice voters face this November and the importance of the grass-roots effort that will lead us to victory."

The event is reminiscent of one that former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean held last fall, when his campaign organized house parties across the country that the former Vermont governor addressed in what was billed as the largest-ever conference call. More than 10,000 people attending about 1,400 parties joined the call on 3,500 phones, the campaign reported last September...

I am holding a Party for the President on the 29th of this month in Evansville, Indiana. It is apparently the only one in the area right now. I know Indiana is a "safe" state, but I had to do something to support President Bush.

The goal of the Bush campaign was 2004 parties. There are now over 2046 parties scheduled for the 29th. There are over 4000 parties scheduled altogether.

All Bush supporters are welcome. This will be a family-friendly, smoke-free, alcohol-free event.

The details can be found on the Bush web site (georgewbush.com). Or, if you like, send me a private e-mail and I will send you an invitation.

I have now tried 4 times....with no luck.
This is not good news for others who may be experiencing this same problem. I will be coming from work, so I cannot bring food....but I will bring wine.

I got a call and email from Genevieve....
so I guess the system works.

I am not sure I can make it yet....It will depend on my mans work schedule. I have to be honest, when she left the phone message telling me that I couldn't bring wine as no alcohol is allowed....that really cut my desire to attend. A dinner party with no wine??? That is just wrong. I am more creative after a glass of cabernet.

have you found a party yet?? do you live in kansas?
why don't you have a party yourself? it doesn't have to be any trouble--we are just meeting outside, if you have at least 5 people they will send you the video and bumper stickers, and other stuff free- it is worth it, they also have a flyer you can print off and hand out to your neighbors. winjud (you could come to our party but i live near houston)

I may just start my own and get 5 people to come or something if I don't hear from them soon.

I found one that is walking distance from my home.
So, I will probably be attending that one and since it is not freeper related (that I know of) it will be a better place for me to recruit.

Added bonus, it is at a bar....so drinks are allowed.
