I would like to ask for you to pray for my son, Judd. He is an almost-graduate with a Master's in anthropology. After talking with him, he asked me to request special prayers from my prayer warrior buddies at FR. His graduate advisor (whatever she is) has given him a hard time for the last couple of years -- shredding his thesis at every turn -- always making him feel like everything else she has to do is *more* important than signing off on his thesis. This child has almost half the hours towards his PhD and has already been accepted into the PhD program (history with emphasis on religious studies) on completion of the Master's, which he's hoping to walk the stage for in August.
He has a meeting with this advisor on Saturday. Please pray that she'll sign off on his thesis and he can walk the stage in August. Judd is a wonderful Christian young man and has always been very focused on his goals but beset by health problems with a seizure disorder (pretty well controlled), hypertension (well controlled now), and recently costochondritis. He has worked very hard to get where he is. I have always known that God has his hand on him and has something special for him to do with his life. It just seems like he's had a lot of demons to fight. I appreciate your prayers, and so does Judd! Love to all!!
I pray for him but also suggest he take matters into his own hands. Thre is an organization, I can't remember the name (I am sure FReepers on this thread will know) who help conservatives who are persecuted in academia.
Prayers and extend my best wishes.
"child"?
FRiends, would you please pray for my dear son? He's worked so hard to get where he is despite the health issues he has to deal with. Thank you!
Lord, bring peace, faith and send our love and support for Judd at this difficult time.
And please speak to this advisor's heart - she is causing pain for one of our brothers, and perhaps she is unaware of it or is trying to inspire him in the only way she knows how.
you could have kept that to yourself. Shame on you.
You should never, ever pass up an opportunity to help another human being who asks for a prayer.
Prayers for your son.
There are no problems that are too large or too small for God to resolve.
All the best to your son and you. Take care. Pray, then realize it will work out. If your son has completed his end of the bargain, there are remedies to the person who is unfairly taking advantage. Best wishes. D1
I will certainly pray for your son. I had a similar problem when I was a graduate student at Auburn .... My advisor was a very liberal feminist and detested my conservative, Christian values. Another student of hers (also a friend of mine) ended up quitting because of her persecution.
I can honestly say it was the prayers of my dear parents (and Christian friends) that got me through) One day it was like she just gave up and signed it!
Keep us posted on his progress.
An extra prayer offered to make up for the one that Mr. Potter refused to offer in Post #5.
Thanks mabelkitty and Hildy...I thought that was kind of rude of Eldedomuerto. Maybe he/she has never had a son or daughter who has had to deal with what my son has to reach his goals.
Yes. To a mother, always and forever.
TejasRose...yes, I'd be honored to pray for your son. For his schooling and his health.
Prayers for Judd. It sounds like this prof is on a witch hunt.
He sounds like a fine outstanding young man of deep perseverance.
Funny -- my Maker sees every sparrow that falls. No problem is too big or too small for Him. He is there with you and me and sees every post on FR and DU and everything in between. He loves unconditionally and watches over everything in His children's lives.
That's mine, anyway. IMHO also the only Maker.
I understand how one cares for the well being of one's child. Mine are in their twenties and are still my children. I will be happy to pray that God will be with yours to help in all ways that God sees fit.
